October 1st the "Adobe Next" Suite (CS4) comes out apparently. To me it sounds like all it is is CS3, a few extra tools and mostly just the gpu and such support. Probably does change the way alot of things are performed though, for instance the panorama thing now being like a spherical model thing that you modify or some shit.
I'm not gunna complain though if those are the only differences, because to me, gpu support is fucking awesome and it's about time it fucking happened.

Apparently TG Daily made the shit up. At least the GPU part is true (albeit not necessarily in the next release), but Oct 1st is not.

CS3 can already take your 3d model and paint the UVs. I'm going to assume the next version will include improvements to make it easier and overall better, but I could tell that most of that seemed like bullshit. GPGPU? 2GB 442 megapixel image? Come on.

I've got a panorama that's only 15MP (45146x3376 .psb) but is 1.2GB. I think a 442MP picture would be just a little bigger ;).
Edit: oops, I meant 152MP. Although that would still mean a 442mp image would be much larger than 2GB, unless .psb has horrible compression.

It also depends on the image. It's only off by a factor of 50% which could simply be an artifact of conditions. Compression type, quality level, patterns in the source image providing better-than-average compression, etc.

This. I thought all you could do was use 3d shit to have a basis to paint stuff over the top with.
