because you're not supposed to model the hands flat (unlike the cs fp hands), because rigging and mesh deform is crap.

I find that those arms look great, except that the arms, excluding the hands, are too short, and too thin.

wrong. they're the same length and a tad beefier than h2 arms. thanks for the honest observation though.
not skinned, not uv'd, not rigged.

Well, it just doesn't look right to me, maybe the hands are a little too big? It could all be right though, and just my perception of it.

Release em regardless of skin/rig, someone is bound to do it eventually. Maybe someone will volunteer in the mean time.

I vaguely remember you or someone else asking me if I could Elite-ify my Halo 2 HUD (purple, rounded edges) to go with those same arms.

Elites don't have tits. But really I don't see any point in releasing unrigged arms. Not very many people can rig well enough to do FP arms.

Ok goodie. Im looking forward to animating them. It would be REALLY cool of you to rig it to a set of FP arms that already had a cyborg fp model rigged onto it specifically for animating. This would allow animators to animate with both elite and cyborg arms at the same time. Just a thought

I mean have them rigged to the same bones. That way, when animating with them you could ensure that the animations work with both arm sets without any unacceptable clipping etc. It wouldn't really make life any harder on the rigger either, since he could just hide the cyborg model while rigging the elite model.

I disagree. You can just not rig any part of the elite model to the pinky bones.

What penguin meant (I assume) is that the bone proportions are different. Yes, you can rig them to the same nodes, but one set (depending on which one you animate with) would end up distorted and generally looking bad in the end product. And noone wants that.

Yeah, that is true. I think that may be the best you could hope to achieve though, unless you make your own bone structure. It just wont work properly with any animations made with the cyborg rig.

I think having a better end-product is more important than having an easier time making it. Maybe having two rigs; one for H1's fp and another one with custom bones would allow the most flexiblility in this case, since I don't think anyone's up to making custom anims for every weapon.

Yes, not everyone can animate anyways, so a completely custom rig would be useless to the vast majority of people who will download the tags

i edited them, they don't have the ugly extra low poly ovals on the inside of the forearms anymore.

So the arms are almost uv'd, and wanksta(-=Inferno=-) has given me his bone rig he made for his ripped elite fp arms (which you guys were so rude about). This may actually see a release.

rigging is not that hard, it is the first time, but once you do it after that its easy...those arms should take no more than 2 hours to properly unwrap too, you could finish it tonight and find someone to skin it for you. I'd do it but im on vacation...:pjkjk

Definitely release the arms! I know a handful of people who could use them.
