View Full Version : Summer project poll.

So. This summer, I will be working on a new campaign level (new storyline, most likely only one level long but preferably more) to teach myself the workings of halo modeling and scripting.
I could go many ways with this (I have a few stories in my head already, but they're waay too ambitious), but I can't decide what the enemies should be in this campaign. My plot would ideally have all of them in it, but I doubt I'll have the time to do that.
So, here's the question: What enemies do you enjoy fighting the most/would like to fight, knowing the way that Halo treats AIs?
By the way, it's a multiple-choice poll, so choose two if you can't decide.

I also like fighting Retards. Sad that isn't up there.

I've always liked the two/three-way battles near the end of the game.

edit: I prefer fighting covenant, the other choices just get stale, seeing as there's not that many ways to spice up teh gameplay each encoutner.

I'm doing some basic concept layouts and whatnot for a campaign idea I have in which you (a Spartan, at times backed by Elites and a pair of Hunters) fight Flood combat forms (both Spartan and Elite, along with Infection and Carrier) as well as super-sentinels, which will be larger, harder-to-kill enemies (almost like bosses) that you must defeat in multiplayer-style areas. The battles will still be linearly linked, but you will be able to choose your path into the next battle area, and each area on its own will be pretty free-roaming. One major thing I will be including, however, is plenty of flood vs super-sentinel combat. I agree with Terin that you should do big enemy-vs-enemy-vs-you battles - they tend to work out quite well.

What about all of them.

Bah. I could, but it would most likely extend the time I work on this, and I just want this to be a summer thing; I doubt I'll have any free time once school starts again.
And considering the timeframe I have, I won't be making any new bipeds, unless someone makes one for me. >_>

I've never seen a good scary ass flood mission. We need somethin' pitch black where your flashlight=life. HL2 EP2 anyone? Also, broken motion sensor and flood that come from every direction :awesome:

Why not do a story of explaining how the legend of the arbiter came to be. It was an acient armor, and obviously has a story behind it, why not tell that story and make an awesome camapign.

Anyway, I like Chains' idea, Like how the prophet talks about the Grunt rebellion or the taming of the hunters in Halo 2.

If you do anything on the Forerunner I'll chastise you. I'm still trying to formulate my story.

FLOOD INFECTED SPARTANS MAYBE?

FLOOD INFECTED SPARTANS MAYBE?
is that even possible? i thought the spartan's were like the black sarge guy. he had a brain problem that stuffed up his brain waves and the flood infection couldn't take over his body. but the spartan's for a different reason.
i still think a 5 way fight would be awsome

That was only a reason some guy on crack who worked in the story writing department came up with to tie him in to Halo 2.

Probably should have mentoned: Unless somebody sends a new biped, animated and skinned (not actually expecting one), I'm not adding any new bipeds. As I said, this is a summer project, and I don't think I'll have the time to write up a quality story, model out a map, and create a new biped and animate it at the same time. This is my first mapping project, so it'll be slow at first. Most likely one level.
I do like the scary flood level idea.
And to Teek: It takes place in a Forerunner lab, but won't directly relate to the Forerunner...
Also, new question: If I include Flood, should I make them like the H3 ones, weak to melee?

To the melee thing, I say no. As they say in Halo 3, the flood had evolved.

If you're going to do Flood, have a flamethrower in the level somewhere. I heart flamethrower!

The covenant first, just because there's more variety in fighting them compared to the flood (second choice).

Do both, and further in a few covies join you, because no one wants their ass kicked by the flood. Also dark level=win
And you should get on AIM.

yeah you could so a covie beginning to the level then get into the flood for the rest of it, sorta like 343GS but fucking skitz

by covie what do u mean? like the new military power of the brutes or the old one with the elites? anyway flood ftw(XD i bet they would win the first few times if u set their ai really high and some what good health)

Elites I hope (They were better enemies).

Has to be elites, mainly because I don't have access to a fully tagged brute, but also because I just don't like brutes that much. :/
I see a lot of people want to fight covenant, but most people who posted prefer to fight flood; can I hear some suggestions from the covenant supporters?

Full tagged/ rigged brute by cmt released at halomaps. Two types, major and minor, H3 style armor.

I like fighting the covenant because there is more of a variety. Like having tons of grunts and a few elites with some jackels. And then you turn a corner and there is two hunters. There is just more things to kill when there's covenant. I like the flood but only when they come out of no where because they feed the story of some zombie like creature that pops from behind.

I prefer fighting Covenant. They were always fun to battle in H1.

I agree. for example on "The library" it gets really boring and repetitive because your fighting the same boring enemies in practically the same sequence over and over again. you have more variety in fighting the covenant.

What might work is too take the 343 guilty spark level and redo the story where you are one of the marines who goes in with keys. and you have to fight through the level battling covenant and flood. Also make it where after the flood come the lights go out and you have to depend on ur flashlight to survive.
That would kickass.
(also make sure you give the marines better shielding and the ability to hold all weapons)
