I think It would be nice to have a chatbox, now for some pro's and cons
Pro's:
Convienient
May stop some shitposting
Allows quicker answers
May stop shitthreads
Con's:
Less Posts
Possible Spam
Idiocy
I hope that we get one though :D

Because the H2vista one failed horribly.
Why don't we all just /i/nvade #gbh? :awesome:

I like the chat box idea. It would eliminate all topics that are just needed for answering questions. That why it leaves more forum space for useful topic.

Might not be a bad idea.

pro/b/ably because we only had it open months before the game came out. It worked well for a couple of weeks, then everyone got tired of waiting for the release.

You might find those topics useless, but for people trying to troubleshoot a problem, they're a godsend.

Well what I meant was like they don't need to make an entire new topic on it. Instead they can post their question in the chatbox. And because there are SOOO many people online at this website their question will be answered really soon if not right away. It would make things more effective.

Most of those people are guests though, and then most of those guests are probably nasty hairy spiders sent by Google Corp and Yahoo Inc to web our bandwidth.
I could only see the chatbox working as a sidebar app, which don't appear when actually browsing the forums.

It could be useful, although it would be a lot easier to just go to a thread then scroll down through a mile of spam just to see a simple question. Then again, that happens a lot in most threads anyway.

I say we give it a 2 week trial then see how it goes. It never hurts to try.

The IRC channel lasted for about two months.

I also agree with this idea, it would help make things a lot simpler than having to always use PMs all the time, or always going off topic in threads.

For those topics that are like
"How do I :words:"
"You :words: the :words: to the :words: and then :words:"
"Kthx +rep"
I think it would be nice to be able to click someones name and + or -rep them then and there also, if is implimented.
It would stop Snaf and Dole like arguments. It could be handled as simple as "Lets take it to the chatbox >:[" Or a mod could pop in and say take it to the box.

I really don't like chat boxes in general. I've yet to see one that doesn't just divolve into spam.

I say we've got to have some sort of happy medium between the effort it takes to use IRC (which drives users away) and the overconvenience of the little corner chatbox (which generates spam). I say a dedicated chat on a separate page would be good.

Wut, last time I went to subway when I was in Australia it was :awesome: (then again, the fact that I got it for free may have enhanced the taste, <3 coupon for foot-long+large drink)

Has nothing to do with the current line of discussion in this thread, but a shoutbox is something that's going into the "cool toys to put in last" pile.
