It's out. Go download it and be happy.

Mozilla is almost completely down, but I refreshed for minutes straight in order to get in and find a link.

Enjoy. (http://download.mozilla.org/?product=firefox-3.0&os=win&lang=en-US)

Oh looks like Mozilla is coping with the load now.

The main page (http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/) should work now.

Meh I have the beta right now. I wonder if it looks any different.

It looks no different than the betas or release candidates, but internally it is much more stable.

I like the performance increase a lot. normally having 3 tabs open would use like 130mb of my RAM, now it only uses around 60. very nice.

I don't like the new look though. Its not that different but the new navigation toolbar buttons are ugly.

Korn, you are such a failure.

In other news, I upgraded to Vista today and I was pleasantly surprised to see Firefox taking up only 73MB with 8 tabs open.

So, if I have the betas/release candidate do I still need to download this?

Yes, you need to download the final straight from Mozilla - you need to count for the record!

Meh I have the beta right now. I wonder if it looks any different. It shouldn't, but depending on what Beta you have it may look crisper (I know there were problems with the first beta release, it had rough edges on a bunch of stuff)

Its not that different but the new navigation toolbar buttons are ugly.Only for you Windows people (they just made some crappy theme, OOo did the same thing for their 3.0 release, only theirs looks better), for Mac and Linux users we have our own native icons. Though yeah, go get a new theme, I've heard the complaints about the Windows one.

Also, 4 tabs, 11.7% of my RAM.

SpreadFirefox is also back up.

So, yeah, when I was at BK getting my 9-pc chicken fry and strawberry 'shake, there was this chick with a Firefox shirt.

udgi? I was making a joke about FF 2.0's "mysterious" ram whoring, then celebrating good times of the news that it doesn't whore so much

there was this chick with a Firefox shirt.
you forgot to answer the #1 question that everyone will ask:

:( No, she was kinda hefty (but not quite overweight).
Foxy ladies don't go to BK for Lunch.

Oh, so that's why Mozilla was down earlier today. I'll have to make sure to D/L this later. Hopefully it's compatible with the handfull of add-ons I have.

If your addons aren't compatible, you can force them to install using another addon.

There should be, if not, it would probably be a good idea to demand it. I'm searching about:config at the moment.

Tis nice, but the fact that I can't hide the tab bar when there is a single tab open really irritates me.

I just noticed a feature that i think is new, but I'm not sure. you can grab an image and drag and drop it to your desktop/where ever you want to save it. That's pretty neat.

edit: Reaperman, go to options under the "tabs" tab and uncheck "always show tab bar."

2 tabs @ 90 mb

I blame add-ons.

I'm not sure if it was in one of the Linux distros I've tried, but OS X has this too.

First thing I tried, wasn't ticked. The tab bar disappears for a fraction of a second then it just pops back into existence, weird. Even when I try to close the tab that's open, same thing happens with the bar.

Even when I change the tab hiding options in about:config autohide and force hide, it just doesn't work. Maybe it's one of my add-ons doing it (I have a tab hiding add-on I use to hide stuff when teachers are lurking)

E: Fixed, it was one of my add-ons doing it.

Corndogman
June 18th, 2008, 12:35 AM
I prefer to keep the tab bar there anyways, makes it easier to open up a new tab real quick. just right click new tab.

Edward Elrich
June 18th, 2008, 01:12 AM
or even easier, double-click the open part of the tab bar.

And it's much smoother and faster than the the older version or IE, so Firefox FTW

edit: and if the main page is not working (as was the case for me) go here (http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all.html) and click the "US" link, unless you feel like getting everything in another language...

Reaper Man

Or just middle click or ctrl+click (command+click on mac)

Anyone else having problems installing addons/updates? Mine always fail to install with an error code, and then FF says to restart for the effects to take place, which I do, and then when it restarts it says to restart it again.

Pretty impressive! Was using the firefox beta (release before final) and I noticed that the memory firefox used halved which is pretty awesome.

Kudos to Mozilla for such a fine program.

They're setting the record, since nobody's tried it before.

Which one is that?

And I love this image drag/drop feature. Makes life so much easier. I'm just glad my errors are fixed. I use to have these errors where in text boxes on Firefox 2.0 it wouldn't copy/paste at times. Or the cursor couldn't move left or right. Or the tab's wouldn't open at certain times. I'm just glad all those errors are all gone.

^ I could have sworn "couldn't" was a real contraction. And yet Firefox picked it up as a spelling error.

8 million downloads in the first 24 hours is a lot.

That is seriously astounding.
