Okay basically I have a wireless lan, now I want to make my pc (this one) 192.168.0.1, so I can share the connection to my xbox. The problem is when you share a connection, it automatically uses 192.168.0.1. Now that is used by another pc on my network I think, seeing as I'm set to 192.168.0.4 (it was 3 before I started messing)

Is there any way to release/re-register the other pcs, which one of them is a mac, so I get 192.168.0.1?

SO in summary

IP Address Now: 192.168.0.4

I want it: 192.168.0.1

You could set your computers so that they have a static IP, but i don't think you will be able to set it at 192.168.0.1 because that will most likely be your routers IP.

You could turn off both computers and turn on the computer you want to be x.x.0.1

I don't know if it's a first-come-first-serve basis when it comes to this IP assignment thingy.

...or you can assign it in the NIC properties, as long as the other computer doesn't have the same IP, not sure if that'll work...

Evil monkey eh?

I dont partially want static ips, although they dont really change, I can manually reassign them. Sharing connection via my Ethernet cable to xbox is what I want. I know its possible, I think the other pcs using my router are interfering though =\

Well the other pcs are off right now, but the router still holds the mac addresses so they are automatically set to 1,2,3 etc. I have specified to use this pcs IP + gateway however it says conflicting IP's. I gave it a new ip (7) and it connected however the xbox doesnt seem to want to work.

I might have to change xbox's settings, however do I connect them to the 7 ip, or the 4 (this pc)..

Kinda confused.
