Apparently, my monitor and my GPU support a 1900 resolution. So, new question: how do I get this resolution to work with my monitor?
So a few days ago I bought a 24'' monitor, 1900x1200, and it is beautiful.
But my card, a 7800 GTX, doesn't support its full resolution. :<
Can anyone suggest a cheap, under $270 card that can match or beat the performance of my 7800GTX, along with a reliable PSU?
I'd prefer one that ran relatively cool. I don't quite know how good my system is at cooling by itself, and my current card is one of the coldest I've ever seen.
Thanks
Terin

8800GT? :v:
That's just me being uninformed on what's actually good now, though.

The 7800GTX does support 1920x1200. I know because I used to own one.

Check the specs: Max Resolution 2560 x 1600

7800gtx supports that resolution...
also, for 270 you can get an HD 4850 for 199 and spend the rest on a new power PSU

What the crap.
Changing thread title-I think I have a new problem :v:
okay, there's another problem, it won't let me, but I won't get into that right now <_>
Does anybody have any ideas why I wouldn't be able to run a full resolution on my monitor?
It's a Viewsonic Optiquest Q241wb, refurbished.
edit: Works with DVIVGA only, wtf. better get a conversion connector :/

First of all, do you have the latest nVidia drivers? And also, why would you need a conversion connector? Doesn't the 7800GTX have dual DVI connectors? Even that doesn't matter, all you need is one DVI port. Also, use DVI. The image clarity is quite better. at least I find it to be better than using a D-Sub (VGA) cable. Plus, you'll porbably get more customization options with using DVI since...well, ATi Catalyst Control Center treats my Samsung 22" 2253BW like an advanced LCD with more options than when I initially connected it with a D-Sub cable.

you should always use DVI

Bah, might have confused a lot of people with my last post. Was in a rush.
Anyhow. It does NOT work with DVI on my computer, which only has DVI ports. However, it works on this laptop, with only a VGA port. So I have two conditions that could be causing problems: Either it only works with VGA or does not work with my computer.
I have the latest drivers for my graphics card, and the only driver I could find for my monitor.
I...probably should have posted this while I was at my house, and able to test out various things. As it is, my computer is unable to connect to the internet through the port that is right next to me, I have only one VGA and one DVI wire to work with, and no VGA-DVI convertion plugs.
What are the bonuses of using DVI?
