So yeah, i was browsing on the internet, when i clicked a link, and suddenly a download prompt came up, i accidentally pressed yes , and to make a long story short, i have spyware now.

Every time i go browsing around in windows explorer, it crashes and then i get this message :

I click no, but it still brings me to their stupid virus home page.

The last time i had something like this was around 2 years ago, and my dad fixed it, but my parents separated since then, so i dont know what to do, help is greatly appreciated

(also im running a virus scan right now, still found no viruses)

Well, I don't really mean to be stating the obvious, but have you tried an anti-spyware program?

Get Spybot S&D if that is the case, it's the best anti-spyware software I've used.

HijackThis is another great program. It's free, just that it tends to detect things that aren't malware such as add-on toolbars.

Spybot did nothing? Did it at least identify the name of the threat?

AVG Free
SpyBot S & D
Spyware Blaster
Windows Defender
Ad-Aware

I recommend using Spybot, then looking at the BHO's and activex's for internet explorer, thats where the majority of shit goes to attack for IE.

Make sure you update all these programs before scanning.

Back up everything important to an external drive, just in case.

http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/using/helpandsupport/learnmore/systemrestore.mspx

I haven't looked over it, but I think it's a tutorial on doing system restores.
