Ok so I got a new card, tried to play a game and here it goes:

http://i123.photobucket.com/albums/o290/SilentWindPL/screenshot_wtf2.jpg

I tried installing Omega Drivers and newer driver versions or rolling back to the first 1.0 install but nothing has worked. 768 MB of RAM, Graphics card surpasses the Min. Req of all the games including Guild Wars, 1.50 GHz Processor not great but should be able to run most games.

The graphic settings are default and in guild wars the game is so bad I can hardly bare it. I know theres a fix for this, anybody can help?

What brand is the card?
Looks like problems I've seen with the visiontek brand.

The brand, what I'm guessing, is GeCube. Thats the only brand name really.

how new is the card?

I bought it today, I don't really know how 'new' it really is. Look up the name of it. I'd say 2006-07 maybe, really not sure.

I ran Direct3D Test and the first box that showed up was textured wrong and it asked me if I saw the Logo and I clicked no, but that really didnt seem to do much, then a few more boxes with correct textures came up and it really didn't tell me much more than I already knew.

These were the results (On a German PC):

Direct3D 7-Testergebnisse: Abbruch in 32 (Benutzerüberprüfung des Direct3D-Rendering): HRESULT = 0x00000000 (Fehlercode)
Direct3D 8-Testergebnisse: Alle Tests waren erfolgreich.
Direct3D 9-Testergebnisse: Alle Tests waren erfolgreich.

TRANSLATED:
Direct3D 7-Test results: Discontinuance in 32 (user examination of the Direct3D-Rendering) : HRESULT = 0X00000000 (mistake code)
Direct3D 8-Test results: All tests were
successful.
Direct3D 9-Test results: All tests were successful.

When you uninstalled the drivers, did you do it properly? Or did you just uninstall and install a new video driver after that?

Snowy

Where did you buy it from?

Amit

you should have added a bit more money to buy the HD 4850 which outperforms it by at least 4-5 times.

Uninstall the old drivers, put in the new video card (when everything is unplugged and computer is off), install new drivers, restart. If re-installing then Uninstall, Restart, Put in CD or download Driver Installer, install, reboot and OK.

Correct procedure from what I can recall. @Snowy I bought the card from Conrad. @Amit I did not ask for advice on better cards, I asked for a fix, thanks for the tip though but this computer is an AGP slot so it was the best for the cheapest price I could find.

Exact card name: GeCube ATI Radeon HD 3650

The Direct3d 7.0 Test keeps failing with the same error, I've read something about installing the correct AGP *some word I cant remember*.

There are no new updates for the Card and I have tried installing Omega Drivers.

Dunno what to tell you with that. I was having several problems with my 3600 series card and Catalyst drivers but installing Omega drivers fixed most of them.

Do those parts with funky colors use post processing effects though? Those still don't work on Kotor for me with this card... anything that uses post processing like motion blur just fucks up the whole screen in a similar way to that.

Oh, I thought you said it was a 3850. My bad. That's why I made the comparison.

@Amit, it's cool.

Also Pooky, I don't know if it does or doesn't besides its just a 2d box that should be displayed. I can try to find such an option in the game, but its incredibly hard to read.

One more thing, when I tab out and back into the game it looks 50% better but isn't fixed and still has a lot of funky colors, but not AS MUCH as before. I don't know if that could really change the problem solution.

A friend of my dads is coming over to look at it and apparently he'll know the answer, if not then you guys are my only hope :( [/princess_leia]

Double post I know, but I tried messing around with the post-processing enabling and disabling it and it didnt make much difference. The I tried messing with the video settings but nothing, so I'm still stuck with it :[ Any help on this?

Quick Edit:
I tried installing lower version of the driver and older versions of omega, but still no luck and the constant rebooting whenever I change the driver is becoming a real headache.`

When I try to install the older driver versions (ATIs not Omegas) it says it can't find a driver that is compatible with my hardware. Yet when I use the CD to install the same version, it works fine.

It's an AGP slot running at 8x mode and FastWrite is ON.

One last thing, did you try exchanging the card or sending it to RMA?

And you installed ATI Catalyst 8.6? (It has some sort of AGP hotfix.)

If you feel like trying again, do so, but after you uninstall your drivers, go into safemode, run this. (Driver Sweeper, cleans out remaining drivers after uninstalling to avoid conflicting errors when installing new ones). (http://phyxion.net/docman/cat_view/6.html)

After you clean, restart normally, and install the 8.6. Worth the try.

Bastinka
July 6th, 2008, 06:03 AM
Yeah I can try again, but the Installer kept giving me an error that said something on the lines of "ATI Could not find any drivers compatible with..." but with the driver cleaner it might make a difference, but I have serious doubts.

Double post again, sorry, but I'd really love to solve this problem.

Yet again it thinks I don't have the drivers, I even tried uninstalling, taking out the card, boot in safe mode, driver clean and manually remove all the reg / dll files I could find, put the card back in, booted normally and then yet still it doesn't think I have a drier compatible with it. Tomorrow I'll go return it for an Nvidia AGP card, if they have those, because I'm fucking sick of putting up with ATI's shit that they spew out of their mouths.

Dude, it may not even be ATi's fault. What brand is the card? Also...it's AGP. Some of the time AGP just doesn't work well with newer drivers. Does nVidia even make AGP cards anymore?

Bastinka
July 6th, 2008, 03:41 PM
Idk about Nvidia, but I mean theres AGP cards that are new... Why does ATI hate AGP cards? Or atleast this card? I can't wait to get back to my PCIe motherboard back at home :(

EDIT: Sorry, 3 days of non-stop googling and angry phone calls just gets to you.

Why did you buy a video card for a computer that's not even yous?

Also...does it actually say GeCube the card and box?
