It seems its trying to use my microphone driver for either thing i check, heres a pic ( i don't even have my mic plugged in)

Try selecting "Use Windows Input". That's what I have to do. For me it says that my sound device is "Line In/Mic In"

On your taskbar, open volume controls. Then hit Options>Properties. Under Mixer Device, find where it says Microphone(Sound Max Integrated) or something similar and select it. Make sure recording is checked and check all volume controls then hit OK. Mute microphone and turn up recording all the way.
Hope that should work and that all that isn't too confusing.

you need to go into your playback and recording devices options, and set your default device.

In your Volume Controls, (The little speaker on your taskbar beside the time) go Options>Properties. Under mixer device choose Line In. Make sure recording is selected and check every checkbox under volume controls and hit OK. Mute Microphone and turn Recording up all the way.
I know that I just repeated myself but have you at least tried this because it worked for me. Sorry if that sounds pushy because I don't mean it to be.

older fraps wont record sound from vista properly. I had the same problem. Download the newest fraps and it will use "Vista" for sound device and "Direct Stream" as the input. (PS, I'm using 2.9.3)
