View Full Version : Looking for a new case and a few other things

As some of you know, I have had my computer for over 4 years. It's worked well for me since Halo for PC first came out. Have not had to buy anything new (with the exception of a couple damn mouses). However, it is aging and I feel like it is time to get a few new things for it to keep it going.

Currently here's how my computer looks:
A case that's loud and has a case door broken after throwing a football at it (don't ask ).
Abit IC7-MAX 3 Motherboard
Intel 3.0 ghz
ATI Radeon 9800 Pro
Gig of Ram
Western Digital HD 120 gigs
Random Sound Card (I'm hard of hearing so I don't care about it all that much haha)For the most part I'm happy with that I got. However, the case has got to go and the HD just isn't enough these days. The Ram I'll definitely address sooner than later but not too too concerned about it for now. The processor and video card I'm fine with actually. Don't really want to blow a lot of money on something I wouldn't use to the extreme much these days. After all, I've mostly been playing older games on this. ;)

So with that being said here's what I'm looking at for right now:

Case: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811119138
I'm not looking for anything flashy and such. Just want a regular ol' case.

HD: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822136073
The fact that it has that much space is good enough for me. :)

If you guys have any suggestions that would be awesome. Anything at all would be a big help for me.

I think you would be better off spending a bit more money on a hard drive/other hardware and a little bit less on the case unless you really need something that big to hold all your components. Personally I'd recommend something like this (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811129154)/this (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811129025) for a case and then getting a bigger HDD like this (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822148298). Then you can put the $100ish you saved into more memory, a newer motherboard or whatever you need/want.

Can you post more specific specs (eg. Memory type, processor socket, etc.)? That would help us see what is a simple/cheap upgrade.

Btw the rams crap.

Memory on your pc is fine. :O 3.0Ghz? Damnit I'm still running on 2.4 =\

Case is a bit expensive, like legionaire said save money on that case and spend extra on parts.

It's probably a one of the last Pentium 4 3.0GHz HT CPUs liek what I have in my old PC. Damn good CPU and it's still hold its own against some earlier Core 2 Duo Products.
