You can check my system specs, but it feels like I'm using a much older card. I can't get a smooth framerate, even though I should be able to. In the fps monitor, it seems to be capping it off rather than just decreasing due to stress. halp?

Have you tried reinstalling drivers and getting the latest DirectX?

Disable your decals, 8800 has problems with halo and vista.

Since this is in the CE section I have to ask; Do you use the bloom mod, that was talked about here a few days/weeks ago?
If so, did it start when you started using it?

I don't use bloom mod, I only use DXTweaker for the camo, yet it worked fine before I upgraded my card so that can't be the problem. I downloaded the latest drivers to no avail, directX is newest too. I'll try the decals thing. In the meanwhile, I get this problem where if I look around quickly or move, some groups of polygons will go all askew or get darker for an instant. Sometimes I can see through walls for an instant because a polygon flashes away. I had that problem before I upgraded too.

Ive Noticed as well that On vista, with any 800 series card, you should disable decals, also sorry to ask but, what exactly do decals add in the first place? Could I possibly have a picture?

Decals include, but are not limited to: blood; explosions; bullet holes; and plasma scoring.

I seem to see them still, or atleast the majority, Is the assumption that decals show those things, even though others do, but in greater detail?

Pretty much just do everything everyone said before, and maybe reinstall Halo if worst comes to worst.

This used to happen to me when there were a shitload of decals. Like Masterz said, turn them off. It just fucks it all up. :\

Yeah, turning off the decals worked, but I am sad. I like writing messages with decals. <3 decals

hey it worked fine with my 7900, so obviously its not just vista's fault.

hey it worked fine with my 7900, so obviously its not just vista's fault. :mad:It's the combination of the 8x00 series and Vista. All you have to do is turn off decals. It isn't fun to not see blood anymore, but it's the only way. :\

Wait!? Decals work for 8 series if you're on XP? This is a revelation! Now I can stop holding back on upgrading.
Wait... I'm broke... Least I don't have to shovel out some serious real estate in my tower.

In short, Decals make Halo look at its best. Blood, Scorch marks, bullet holes, plasma scoring, explosions, muzzle flash, and bunch of other stuff.

Muzzle flash isn't a decal.
Neither are explosions.
