Me and Higuy started to work on this map together. The model is almost done. Needs a few tweaks here and there and another cave added in. The map is going to be populated by H3MT using h3 weapons and that sort. There will aslo be a classic version for the more "hardcore" ce player. Anyways here's some pics.

well...it looks ok. u really need some more variation in terrain and the walls are kinda boring. everything looks kinda chisled out instead of natural. i suggest u work on the model some more. TBH, this seems like an alpha build or maybe a beta 1 build of a map i would make, not a final version.

Both the cliffs and ground look really flat, but I think its a good start. Also... why do people model the rocks into the bsp?

My only guess would be that they want bump maps for the rocks.

Sweet classic. Not to big on the H3MT weapons thus far. No offense, but I just don't settle for half decent. No offense meant by that, srsly. They have potential.

The h3mt weapon set is to attract more players =P
Most people who play ce as of now play maps with custom tagsets.

As long as there balanced and the map is fun i don't care THAT much about how they look. Although they need to at least look half decent. If you make them look like the Horrid extinction weapons no one will want to play it.

As long as it gets released before the true H3MT maps, there will be lots of players. But once Narrows, Valhalla, and Sandtrap come out people are gonna be like "wtf? These weapons aren't done yet..."

The weapons will be done though. THe h3mt version is going to wait. It will come out before the h3 maps though. Right now were testing it to see how it will play out and see if we need to tweak the layout.

Work on the layout some more. Gameplay doesn't look well thought out.

Well for you it might be a step up, but I don't particularly like this, just like I didn't like mine.

it looks pretty good, but could use some work, although you could get a lot more detail in there with the amount of polys you used, more variation would be good too.

On the cliffs, don't make it straight lined polygons try a bit more variation and distribution. Triangles and squares, sort of jig jaggy but not enough to supstantially make it look bad. Could save polies and could also maybe look nicer.

I'm working on fixing some errors. It will be textured later tonight hopefully and beta might happen. Also we aimed for the theme to be halo. We didn't want it to be something that didn't look or feel halo.

Its not the look of the weapons....its the weapon themselves. I can see myself playing the classic, but not the other one.

I never followed massacres cliff modeling tutorial :confused: Plus I didn't model all of the cliffs. Everything except whats in the middle is mine.

It doesn't look all that bad, seems like it could have interesting gameplay. Can't wait to see this further into production, keep it up!

lol... did you watch his tutorial? It would have looked different if they did it his way (the wire frame anyway).

I also find nothing wrong with Massacres cliff tutorial, maybe some of his judgment in what terrain should look like is off thats about it but I found nothing wrong in the methods he used.

This could be a fun simple map though, keep working on it.

Well the only thing i can say about the map is that i wish the tops of them were not so flat. Maybe add some variety like little hills. Thats what i did for ancient sanctuary, but overall the map looks nice so far.

Interior of the last shot needs a lot of work. I don't just mean texture wise either. It looks... boring? :-/

At first it looked alright to me, but now it looks like something you would throw together in a few hours.

Work on your layout and Design a bit more, also it does not look to pleasing in the game play department.

However, I do like to see when someone follows through with their plans, so good job on that.

Gameplay is actually one of the best aspects of this map, in its simplicity lies its greatness. It just needs a few tweaks, such as taking out the hogs, and the rocket launcher.

Actully chains i modified the rocket luancher so it spawns with 2 rockets, and rotates between a flameflower.

I don't care, it's worth the infraction.

Vary those cliffs a bit more, and if it's decently textured, this might turn out okay.

H3MT tagset = no.

So far there'll be a classic and an h3mt version, if you don't like the h3mt version, don't play it, get over it.

Basically, Doan wants everything to be custom made by the team, or someone else. The cliff textures in Highgrounds are ripped Sanctuary cliffs, if you didn't already notice.

We offered to change them but he still didn't care so we left them the same.
