Here is my attempt at the Hardy Daytona from FF7.
Total triangles: 139,703
Total time in the making: around 8-10 days, without counting the time that the old model was sitting inside a abackup disk (around a year, maybe 2)
Aprox. time for all the renders (without counting the huge one): 5-10 minutes

Reference shots from Original from FF7 CG model:

Linked now.
Total time for render: 3 hours, 58 minutes, and 38 seconds.

A more internet friendly lower res, lower settings, less shinny version of the above 14 MB render:
Total time of render, 8 minutes.

Feel free to leave any comments on what I can fix :)

Im sorry, but the original design on that bike is utter crap. Those Final Fantasy people have to not design such retarded things.

Gunblades? Come on.

Its frickin sci-fi, mystical anime, generally that doesn't make sense.

When you try to compare real life to a fantasy game, you just end up looking stupid.

When your an artist and you design a gun where you attach a random object to the front of it, you need to be fired, because your a noob and you need to learn to design something further than what looks cool, in this case however, stupid.

It's just a big razor emo blade fest with this anime shit. I swear, the anime code of conduct is somewhat along these lines:

If it hasn't got a blade on it, add some boobs to it.

If it's hair isn't viewable from space, add some boobs and/or blades to it.

If you can't figure out how to write a good action scene, ignore logic and add some blades, with shurikens attatched to them. If the scene lacks a certain lift, despite it's obvious absence of gravity (and plot), add some boobs, with useless characters attatched to them.

Nice bike model though :)

Rather than responding like everyone else in this thread, and appearing to be retarded because all the posts were basically off the topic of the actual model and rather just internal opinions about how Anime is pathetic (Trust me, I don't like most Anime either), I'm going to key my own position on the model.

I'm really loving how much detail you put into it! The only fault(s) I can find, compared to the original design, are all related to scaling. Many of the pieces aren't scaled to how they look in the reference shots, but who cares, it looks brilliant! Life isn't perfect, and this doesn't have to be.

You are skilled, do you mind explaining the process of how you replicated that so well, as in what software and key points, etc?

Thanks =D, so far you have been the most (if not only) productive post so far. I usually try to work on different parts of the model separately, making them different objects, then stack them together to see what they make. Every tube, handle, bolt, rim, tire, seat, etc. is their own object. this makes it easier for me to edit them, and select the right amount of triangles that I want to use. Some of the objects are open edged, and i hid them behind other objects. If at any time i feel that max is running a bit sluggish, it is easier to hide the objects than to hide triangles, since sometimes hiding the triangles can screw up your model if you decide to add a modifier. For the render I used Vray, and any material that I couldn't get right, I usually went to http://www.vray-materials.de/ where they provide excellent pre-made materials for just about anything.

As for those talking about fantasy and real life, THIS IS BASED OFF PURE FICTION. They made it so it would look cool and get buyers. Here is what they where thinking:

Swords=cool
guns=cool
?????
swords+gun=profit!

"I don't care if t makes no sense or it breaks the laws of physics, this looks fucking awesome, lets add it!"

Update on current looks. Been busy over the last couple of weeks and have worked little on the model, here are the latest changes:
Smoother rims and break pad.
http://img299.imageshack.us/img299/1100/tirefrntwv9.png
Need to add: Connect the wheel and the bars, right now it is floating. I think that the rims are off center, need to look into that more. New tires (or at least a decent texture for treads)

Motor details added, body and seat joined (kinda)
http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a258/OmegaDragon_7/motor.png
Need to add: Don't mind the smoothing errors, nobody sees them when the thing is with it's materials >.>
That block in between the motor is part of my laziness, it is used to make it look like there is more stuff in there, but there isn't.

New leather texture for the seat, bolts added to separate the seat and the body when looking at it from afar.
http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a258/OmegaDragon_7/crapseat.png
Comment: Looks like shit in this render, too grainy to see anything special, and too lazy to spend a couple of hours rendering that part just for you to see it. Also need to fix UVW map to make it look properly. So to give you an idea of how it will look at max, here is the bump map used:
http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a258/OmegaDragon_7/leather_bump.jpg
now add some gloss, reflection, proper setting for bump, and the right diffuse color, and the right settings and you should get something similar to this:

New full render of the bike will come shortly, still got about 15 minutes left.

Edit:
Full render(7MB-57min):

Still a bit too big to load to even shot tag it
