I'm running a 22" LCD monitor, aspect ratio of 16:10, and wanted to know if there's any way to run halo/halo ce on 1680x1050. I know it isn't there by default but maybe there's a way to hack it in? If anyone knows whether that's possible, a reply would be nice.

Try Yelo Battery, I'm not all sure if it works in the new 1.08 Halo but it made it support widescreen.

For high-res. Soon enough I'll be at 1920 x 1200 :-3

Right click on halo:custom edition, click on the shortcut tab, and at the very end of the target space and type in -vidmode 1680x1050, that or -vid mode 1680x1050.

And you won't be able to see what you type before you enter it into the chat.

It's -vidmode <width>, <height>, <refresh rate> e.g. -vidmode 1680, 1050, 60

Ok, I'll try that. Thanks for the quick replies.

Edit: Well I tried that, and it doesn't look any different...correct me if I'm wrong but if it worked, the crosshairs of the shotgun oughta be a circle, not an oval right?

I use it at 1680 x 1050 using that on my shortcut properties.

@Daishi
If you don't use Yelo(not sure if it works with 1.08(check the app list thread)) the hud will look stretched and the reticules will look oval rather than round. If you use Yelo there is an option that fixes it.

Ahh ok. I'll check that out. Thanks for the help.

Why so low res?
Because I don't consider a native res of 1680x1050 to be low.

He was being ironic...seriously about 90% of you computer nerds out there have glasses...having your computer screen at ridiculous high resolution doesn't really help improving your visual acuity.

Running at 1680 x 1050 certainly does make the game look pretty.

No glasses either.

:P I was being serious.... I usually played Halo at 2560x1024, serious Stretches/lulz ensued. But, meh it was a joke at the same time.

I don't have glasses either but everyone who said that they don't have one...your eyesight has worsen since then and higher resolutions are going to make it even worse.

Higher refresh rates are better on the eyes by the way.

C-c-c-combo breaker!
I wear glasses

But back semi-on topic is there a program that can force windows into also having higher resolutions or is that just based on the monitor?

How would you display more pixels than your monitor has :raise:

Subpixel detail! :D.

BTW, read this (http://www.ergonomics-information.com/monitors-eye-strain.htm).

That's all true by the way, I'm living proof. I've spent my entire life either reading books in dim lighting or staring at computer screens, and my eyesight is shitty as hell.

Daishi
August 23rd, 2008, 01:24 PM
I'm living proof that that isn't necessarily true. I have better eyesight than most people.

Bastinka

I'm living proof that I can type on the internet. Also, isn't this issue resolved?

I have glasses! (waits for the legions of two-eyed freaks to beat me up for saying that in a thread that apparently has no glasses)

Yes, I said TWO-EYED freaks. There are way too many people with vision problems these days.

Anyways, adding "-vidmode 1680,1050" (without quotations) to the shortcut path is all you need unless you really want to specify a refresh rate.
