After I get about 10 textures, I might think on about releasing them.

We can screenshot skin too. We can also make our own that is 100% better than some one that just was from a picture.

I don't know what you guys mean by screenshot textures. Did he take H3 screenshots or something?

It may serve it's purpose, but most people can make better textures faster, and better than just taking pictures.

By that logic you should stop doing stuff because someone else can do it faster and by a better process :?

Ah, touche. I'm not saying he can't do it, it's just that you will be less-respected around here if you do. Most people don't like screenshotted textures.

I find it funny that a banned FlamingRain is talking about respect in a community...
If people are going to want to use these, then you should make some bump and specular maps to go along with them.

yah me and a friend are working on the bumps and specs. also which is better:

or the normal maps?

well I'd reccomend making custom black and white heightmaps and then turning out both the black and white versions and the normal map versions.
I don't mod halo 3 or halo 2, I'm speaking in terms of new textures are always nice to have if there going to be free for people to use (of course with credit given).
I wouldn't mind having these sorts of textures to use in Halo CE if I ever needed them. Screen shotted or not, I've even done that before for sometextures. Believe it or not though, guess what you can make good textures using modified screenshots if you know what your doing.
They look nice though, just give them proper bump/normal maps. Draw them manually, then normal map em.
If you just convert the plain texture to normal map you'll end up with mixed/cruddy results.
Normal maps/bumpmaps are best drawn by looking at the texture and drawing over it on a another layer. Black for lower levels, white for higher levels and shades of gray for inbetween. (something like that, for bumpmaps anyway, normal maps I'm not so sure of).
Keep workin on em tho and post pictures of the bumped textures when your done too .

Don't post if it's not finished. Ok, well that obviously doesn't apply to everything, but for something like screenshot textures, make sure it tiles first.

If I recall correctly, halo uses the normal maps and you can convert a height map into normal map by on recompiling the bitmap with an option chosen or something. I think you can just use a normal map and compile that, and you wont have to do any additional work.

If you attempt to compile a bitmap into a preexisting bitmap tag that has its type set to "height map," it will convert the bumpmap to a normal map.
Halo's bumps MUST be normal maps, or they don't work right; the bumps only show when looking at them from a certain direction.

Like someone would want respect from the people here?
