Well, I was reading the bungie.net Friday update, and it turns out they will be adding a New Feature.

Whenever you go to the file page of the film/clip there will be a new link named Render to Video, which allows you to download/acquire the film/clip and save it as a .wmv.

Apparently you'll need Bungie Pro to do it though.

This could be useful for some of our Vidmaster attempts as well :P

But its worth it, rather than paying for a capture card, you could pay 750 MS Points and get the videos straight from Bungie. thats like 78 cents a month

I'd say it sounds useful since my setup isn't really good for a capture card anyway.

However, it really depends on the quality on the clips, and the limitations.

YES!!! They better have good quality settings, though.

it costs like $60 for a decent capture usb plugin and you can use it for everything, including cable tv, not just halo, don't see the need to spend money on bungie pro for just that. >_>

.

I voted no, I would rather use a capture card and have more control. In fact, I have a capture card, except it's in my mom's comp :\

I doubt it will be of very good resolution, I have used a similar feature that renders the xbox 360's front side bus to a file, even if its SD resolution it gives you a great picture quality and resolution...

The problem is that even for SD resolution the file size ends up being pretty big, best bet theyre going to allow either SD or another smaller res...

Id be happy with SD resolution

If its just a rendering program that reads code I'd assume they'd let you choose from reasonable resolutions?

Where can I get this "capture card"?

I'll probably, no wait, will definitely be using this feature, if you don't need Bungie Pro or any other subscription for it.

You need Bungie Pro, But along with Bungie Pro is an increased file share capacity

I guess I'll be sticking to my capture card then.

The site is down now but that explains how to upload Halo 3 videos without you needing a capture card and I even think it's for free as well.

Hey, why would I spend money on Bungie Pro just to get recorded videos, when I can do that with a capture card I already have?

The thing is with that geevee site, you have a limit to how much you can upload MB wise, and time wise as well. Also, it took me like 20 hours to get a 10 min vid uploaded and approved to where I could watch it :/

Good: You don't need a capture card, and Bungie Pro is less expensive. Basically anybody can get their clips converted to a computer-compatible format.

Bad: Loads... and loads... of shitty montages.

What about people who use regular computer monitors? Besides, paying to capture video game footage is sort of pointless to some. Sadly you have to do it for consoles anyway, and I assume it would be cheaper in the short term for some people to just buy the Bungie pro. An HDMI capture card along with the time and equipment necessary to set it up, can be expensive. Also, capture cards are a hassle.
