View Full Version : What came first? The Sparrow or the Orca?

I just found it a bit odd that these two models seem considerably similiar.

Orca Bomber (Command & Conquer)

SparrowHawk (Halo/Bungie)

I see:
Front main gun, Rear angled fins, main fan thrusters, and cockpit design.

The only similarity I see is the fans, and I seriously doubt that C&C was the first to do those.

Of all of those, the only valid similarities are the angled fins and the fans - the cokpits look nothing alike, nor do the guns. The fans have been part of Bungie designs for ages (WoL's Kestrel was based on some unused concept art iirc), and angled fins aren't anything special.

they are completely dissimilar but likely draw from similar inspiration material (p-38 and attack helis).

Yea... more than likely C&C came first... since it was released in 1995.

Trying to claim one ripped off of another in videogames is pointless... they pretty much all rip off each other to some extent.

There's a room in Epic Games headquarters... a fairly large room... filled with just about every game system imaginable (and a couple arcade machines) for research. They literally have an entire room devoted to getting ideas to "borrow"... and that's not uncommon.

I'd even say it comes closer to Starcraft...

I honestly would like to see a working hornet or Sparrow in CE. I would really like to see some descent all-human vehicles around. The Jet and Longsword have been nuked with nukes and weird camera angles.

I'm just saying I'd love to see a wraith in CE. Read my avatar. I love star craft and that image got my imagination going on star craft themed halo mods. So i just through my current thought into a post for no real reason. Looking back on it yes it is sorta "spammy".
