Do you actually laugh IRL? When do you laugh IRL if you see something on the internet?

Post your opinion, I never quite understood what the majority of people actually do.

For me, if its just lol, its sort of a little chuckle or grin. If it's LOL than I kinda laugh a little bit. If it turns into ROFL or LMAO I really start laughing then.

Should have been a poll.

Also occasionally.

I'd probably laugh in real life if they were actual there when I say lol. Otherwise... no.

Most of the time I don't actually laugh, maybe on the odd occasion but most of the time it's just something to say because I don't know what else to respond with.

I usually don't know what to say, so I just type Lol.

But if it's in caps, I'm usually laughing IRL.

I usually say lol just as a courtesy when people are trying to be funny but really aren't, or if its just a little funny. If I'm actually laughing I'll spell out haha.

lolthread does not make me lol.

I sometimes laugh or just chuckle when I type lol, but not all the time. If something you've said, done or shown me is amusing, then I'll let you know it.

Ditto. If I'm extremely entertained, or am actually laughing hard, I might resort to ROFLMAO, but even that might not be anything more than a quiet laugh. Much of the time it's more regarding my feelings, rather than my actions.

Usually when I type LOL in caps, I'm laughing, otherwise lol is just a space filler.

rofl = small chuckle

I type out haha when I'm actually laughing. Caps/length indicate how much.

Loud laugh, cough laugh= Rofl

I've never used "rofl"...

I use lol to replace hahaha or I use hahaha to emphasize that I'm really laughing.
lmao is used when I really am laughing at the funniest shit.

I type "lol" if I'm laughing a bit, grinning or I just want to say something because I'm bored. If I'm actually laughing I'm not even typing at all or its just something like "haahahahahahha" on the screen afterwards.

I just smile a little or do a very tiny laugh.

If I actually found it funny but don't laugh I'd type out lol, however, most times I just go "heh" which is the equivalent of a pretend half-chuckle or "Yeah that wasn't too funny but I'll give you something for effort".

If it makes me laugh IRL, I'd just say LMAO or LOL!.

I've tried to replace my "lols" with "heh" because it much more accurately indicates the noise and level of amusement I'm feeling. I use "lol" when I've been caused to smile or if I feel the person should know it was funny, regardless of whether I've laughed.

I find it interesting that while people often complain of the essentially hyperbolic nature of "lol" use at current, it is fairly accurate to the what they would be doing during an actual face-to-face meeting. That is to say, this acronym can often serve as compensation for the lack of chemistry in a purely textual conversation. Although I acknowledge as most people that it is really nothing more than bearing a continuous false witness to your own amusement, it, at the same time, succeeds in softening the nature of digital communication.

I only use further laughing acronyms in an ironic tone, and will say "LOL" when I am actually laughing.
