So out of sheer boredom, and the fact that I finished applying to colleges, I decided to throw a model of my own basement into Crysis.

Originally, I modeled it to see how well I could render it realistically.
First, out of Mental Ray (Crappy):

Then using Vray (Awesome!):

Real Life:

Then, I ended up painting it in real life over the summer, and changed the layout (in real life). So to update it, rather than doing another boring old render, CryEngine2 seemed perfect! More to come!

Carpet texture looks a little large, but other than that, awesome.

yeah, you should try emailing god to scale the real ones UVs down.

I don-... I don't even understand what you're doing here, Zeph. Perhaps I worded it incorrectly, but it seems to me it's obvious the texture ingame looks as though it's scaled far too large. I'm actually sad. Legitimately sad, that that wasn't picked up on. Or was it? Was your post a joke? I just got a bitter vibe from it directed towards me.

I think he was making a joke that rather than adjusting the digital version, get God to change the real one to match.

Lookin pretty cool. It would be interesting to scale the whole room up so your the size of a toy soldier by comparison.

I'm really in love with the power of this engine. I'm guessing by next week I'll have thrown in an old map or indoor-design of mine and see how it works out.

No offence,
but i dont like the rug, it just doesnt look realistic enough, you should put a thickness to it, make look a little more realistic

Actually I'd have to agree with you, I think the rug looks like crap ><
More or less it was my attempt at taking a photo of the real thing and manipulating the distortion to map it to a simple box-plane. The actual render uses a small displacement map and bumps, the Cry one is just the plain texture.

At this time I would like to point out that vray is what the world looks like on acid.
Or maybe that's just sunny's render settings. Figures, he would know a lot about that :downs:
