What a sad day...

The end of competition.
The end of a moderate pricing policy (for sure).
The end of Innovation?

What a sad day.

So I wonder if Adobe is going to buy Autodesk, or the other way around.

How is an increase in price going to affect anything? :downs:

Yeah, I sort of feel like ^ about it.

But at the same time, a monopoly never helps anyone and if the prices sky-rocket I hope someone will sue them for monopolizing. Seriously, they've acquired two competitors in recent memory.

I certainly hope that Autodesk keeps XSI mod tool free and supported. If that goes then many people won't be very happy.

Monopolies are bad D: .

I don't see it as a huge issue, but I don't think prices will increase much, if at all. I see it more as an opportunity for the company to expand their knowledge and tools for a collection of utilities.

Or not. :]

Hmm. Yeah. Monopoly much?

Also, if XSI Mod Tool doesn't remain free... well then there's no point in it.

Monopolies are bad D: .Autodesk actually "buys" people weirdly... this deal was only 35,000,000$ which is nothing for whole companies.

Usually what happens, like with Alias, is they simply say "You give profits to us now and you put our names in credits, kthx".

In fact Maya PLE was updated 2 generations after the Autodesk buyout... so it'll probably not affect the mod tools.
