Some of you may remember me mentioning that I was in a Tech school learning how to weld. Its a great school, took some pictures while I was in shop to show around, figured why not you guys. *Big pictures.*

Its a welding bay, four walls, easy enough to move around in but not super huge.
Well you see that big piece of angle iron? Well I learned the hard way about why you should never trust a 5 pound piece of metal to stand on its own, even if it seems like its proped up against something.

The cut its self is actually bigger than it looks, about 3 inches, but its deep.
What happened was I used a fire brick to hold it up while I grab my welding helmet that was on the hook. I let the piece of angle iron go for a second, and out of the corner of my eye I noticed it coming towards me. Well stupid me, I had taken my gloves off to position it. So instead of grabbing the piece of angle iron I put the back of my hand to it. Looked at my hand and basically had that "oh fu-" look.I could see my white tissue and some tendons, i think, oh their blue by the way, kind of cool looking. Nice deep gash. 6 stitches, and I cant even put my welding glove on, starts to hurt like hell. Now I can't weld, have to take a welding bend test (that piece of shiny iron on top of the angle iron, its two peices of it. Its welded to a back plate and then you have to weld that gap, get it inspected, grind your weld flush and cut it a certain way. ) And I cant even do that.
How was your day?
