the internal server errors are becoming more and more annoying..
you can't expect to run a worthwhile community website if the user gets bombarded with errors.. i got one just trying to make this post.
to be honest, the only reason people are putting up with it is because they've been here a long time, you will never get new members that actually post and become a constructive member if the 1st experience here is a error page.
the time has come to stop pussy footing around this with dreamhost.
DEMAND to know what the problem is, what you can do, if anything to fix it... and if they give you a hard time, threaten to leave.
if they say fine, leave. DO IT.
find a new host that better serves your needs, don't say you wanna stay with dreamhost because of the space/bw they give you, every host is pretty much "unlimited" now.
we can handle the downtime for the transition, hell, with the errors, the site is down more than 50% of the time anyway.
FIX IT NOW.

Oh, well if you insist they fix it, I'm sure they'll get right on it. :downs:
It's not nearly as bad as you say it is. If you can't handle a little waiting then I think you need to learn some patience.

Patience is one thing. Letting a company step on you is another. Seriously, fix the problem one way or another.

It is bad when you lose posts because of it. I get one about every 5 minutes. They can last anywhere from 30 seconds to 3 minutes.

This.
It happens to me around six times every visit to the site, and can last just for a little bit, or for a very long time.

i have to say that this is becoming more and more of a joke. this rivals halomods in downtime out of pure 500 error occurrences. stop dicking around thinking that someone is going to IM you from that crybaby message you put up. get your shit together guys, harden the fuck up.

We've run a diagnostic on the domains that checks to see if there are any problems, if there are any potential problems, etc. It came back saying the site was perfectly fine. I've told ghost to use that as leverage to get Dreamhost to solve the problems, but I haven't heard from him since.

Ghost's storage/bandwidth on dreamhost is soo high it might as well be unlimited. The 500s we're getting come from not enough memory being available because apache starts a new instance of itself to do anything for any connection.

The site is back on shared hosting so you shouldn't see any 500's now. We are looking intently at a dedicated server to resolve the performance issue.
