View Full Version : Need suggestions for some effective ghetto-rig cooling

I'm not exactly in a position to fork out for fancy liquid cooling systems or cases, but I'm in desperate need of some help. To cut a long story short, my bedroom forms a highly effective solar oven between noon and sundown and even with the side of the case off and all the fans going, my PC overheats constantly. I've got the automatic shutdown set at 80 deg. C and it's idling in the 60s right now. This is doing my fucking head in. My housemate's loaned me a small floor fan to try and help get some airflow happening, but I need a more reliable and permanent solution.
Anyone got any ideas as to how I can effectively cool my PC without spending more than about $25-50?

Get yourself a $50 Thermalright or something heatsink.
I haven't been paying very much attention to the air cooling market as of late. If you want to go with watercooling then I can help you with that.
