No, not cardboard

This shit's crazy. It's like, living in a box... but with fucking style.

Apparently they sell for 45K, and you can build them on your own land... I don't know too much about land prices, but from what I hear you could theoretically get land and a house for under 100K.

That's pretty damn cool. I love those style of houses, but the fact that it's actually a box, and not a properly made house kinda makes it less appealing.

Just think of it as a budget house ;D

Ahead of its time. It's likely that these are similar to the homes of the future, but you'd have to make way by tearing down the stuff we have today. Also, I'm not sure how it would hold up under varying climates. I certainly can't imagine it being useful up here in Canada.

yeah, I kind of wonder about how well insulated it is, myself

Is that a drawbridge on the front :awesome:

I'd definitely take this over a real house. That's more than enough room for me to live in, for a decent cost.

Agreed; I can see myself moving into one of these in a nice, hurricane-free area :)

Just what I needed for my secluded utopia! (serious)

@huerosam: Some of these are "hurricane-proof".

The LV150 (http://www.rocioromero.com/LVSeries/LV150.htm) is our LV series home that can withstand 150 mph winds and complies with the most stringent hurricane code. The LV150 is a 1150 sq. ft home that is 25'-1" x 49'-1" and has a living room, dining room, kitchen, 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, and closets. It can also be reconfigured to have one master suite and master bathroom.

Looking at the most expensive one, and that's a damn good price for a house.

If they were hurricane proof the windows wouldn't be so prevalent.
Though I do agree that insulation is a concern :E

I would have one, as a second house one that I did work in.

Doesnt seem like a home to me, nothing about it is homely, wheres the features, wheres the loving in the house? No where. I dont want to live in a fucking clueless box surrounded with windows like an animal at the zoo. I bet this house "feels" very cold, not cosey.

I have a new house, parents moved into it today, its just blank, nothing it in, nothing that makes me want to even be in it, my old home was amazing, it was cosey and relaxing.

Uh, I'm pretty sure you can build the design of it to your liking.
e: Well, not the windows.

However, the windows are strategically placed to take advantage of the sun all year. Plus, the large windows aren't meant to be facing the front of the property, and then you only get a clear view of the kitchen and dining areas. Also, curtains, motherfucker, do you use them.

Any new place is going to feel wierd until you unpack.

He was responding to Limited, but anyway, the windows are hurricane-grade.

I know it, I was making
you know
a joke.

regardless

What if somebody were to build a lot of these and turn them into some kind of motel?
That would be pretty interesting.

Modern contemporary design just isn't for everyone. Personally, I love it.

I love the kitchen designs, infact I do like the flats, but with a flat its not a perminant thing, you dont own it. Thats why I wouldnt buy one of these, possibly rent it out though.

I was talking about this to my Mom last night and gave me this quote:

"The farther west you go you end up with people that want more modern types of houses. Farther East you go then you end up with more very old looking elegant furniture, etc"

This is what I see because limited lives on the east side of the world (correct?)

It's true with the US for the most part, seeing as that's how the US grew; colonies started in the east, then we pushed west.

Now that's an easy house to rob.

I've always planned to build my house out of surplus shipping containers. Cheap materials, all you need is a small plot of land to build on :P

And approval from the planning department ):

I actually like these style of homes. Obviously not something I'd live in if I had a family, but alone? Sure, why not?
