Ok first off,
I have a laptop
I did not get a new graphics card
this is what happened
a friend of mine said i should update my computer a bit, so he updated it for me.
in the little search bar, when you press start i typed in device manager.
(this is for vista)
once there i clicked the + sign next to Display Adapter,
then i updated the USB Human Interface Device by right clicking it and selecting "update driver software..."
all it did was simply... update, then when i started up halo, this problem occurs.
it doesnt flash up like that, but instead, it flashes rapidly that when im playing i can barely see my enemy, the flash comes mostly from the top to bottom from the corners of the screen.
heres an image of the problem:

Would be helpful if we knew your specs, and you didn't fill your specs section with a tonne of absolutely useless shit :downs:

There's probably something wrong with the video card itself, maybe something on it fried?
I'm not the smartest in that area, so I'm sure somebody else could give you more accurate advice.
Oh, and does this only happen in Halo, or other games as well?

Happened to my friends. Is it vista?
Either your comp sucks or you could try running it in administrator mode or whatever.
Just right click and run as administrator.

Awesome sunrays dude.
Ok I can help you out.
Right click the desktop, go Properties, hit Settings then Advanced.
Go to Troubleshoot and untick "Enable Write Combining"
Walah.
If it's not fixed, than your card either needs a driver update or your overheating or something.

Looks like a driver problem. But like Selentic said, it would be useful to put the correct information into the computer spec section so we can see.

Thats what my friend said at first, so after playing online for around 30 mins, it begins to get a bit annoying... er i mean, fucking annoying.

Try turning off specular. I had this problem before and I turned it off and it disappeared! :D

Yeah, specular seems to screw up a lot of things. Turn it off.

Then go right click > personalize > display settings > advanced. I'm pretty sure that's how it goes in vista (Windows 7 pew pew)

Ok well thanks, i turned off specular, and now that crap is gone ^_^
whats wierd is once i turned it off, everything was fine, then when i turned it back on, the rays vanished...

It may be your chipset. If it happens again, you could try turning decals off (if they're on) and see if that helps. I dunno if Intel has the same problem as nVidia 8x cards with them.

If you updated your display drivers you can just do a driver roll back. At least I think you can Ive seen that option but never used it.

Control Panel (Class View)>System>Hardware Tab>Device Manager
Then select the device you want to roll back and go to its property's and there should be a roll back driver option in the drivers tab.

By the way, I think by checking Vysnc in your Video options in Haloce, it'll fix it. Or is that Horozontail Tearing..?

Well, if you can't roll back, it most likely means you have an old driver.
