i'm making tags for all the halo 3 support weapons
-flamethrower
-missile pod
-turret
-plasma turret
but i want it so they switch to 3p when you pick up and you can switch weapons
does anyone know how to do / script this

also what is wrong if the FP model is backwards?

From what I understand it's impossible to have the camera go into 3rd person when you're holding a weapon. I'd imagine it'd be possible with some heavy vehicle editing, but don't quote me on that, I'm not big on vehicle tagging. It MAY be possible with scripting, but I'm not big on scripting either.
Also I'm not sure what you mean by the FP model being backwards. Elaborate a bit.

MC holds the missile pod FP model backwards, i'm not sure why..

I'm kinda new to animations, but I think you'd need to manually flip the FP model in MAX and re-import it.

I do know that there is a small hack/mod for changing your ingame FOV to third person, so I'm assuming it's possible. I'm sorry that this is mostly unhelpful, but scripting isn't my thing. Maybe you could check it out on halomaps to give you some hints.

It is possible, but it involves stuff like making the weapon a vehicle, 3p animating, and I think (but not completely sure) scripting.

I think the scripting would be mainly focused on making a carryable vehicle if this is the way you're gonna go.
Perhaps... You could make the equipments weapons, but use scripts or something to make you stop moving when you wield them. Remember there is a way to get three weapons in the Halo PC campaign? There's probably a way to tag another weapon into the Chief's inventory... but I don't remember where I've seen it. I'll edit if I find it.

I believe shadowspartan figured out how to do this.. or maybe it was choking victim. Anyways, it was one of the zteam guys unless I am mistaken. You could PM one of them and ask for help

It was me, but my method has it's own issues. Team colors for example won't carry over and it requires quite a bit of scripting.

No, that's for playing the entire game from a third person perspective. This guy wants it such that picking up these specific guns will auto shift you into 3rd person, just like in Halo 3, but otherwise you remain in first person when using other guns.
I have not seen any tutorials about how to do it. Anyway it's been figured out but doesn't work well.

And yes. I know that's not a real script I'm just being general about it.

No, the most i can do atm is direct you to this post (http://www.modacity.net/forums/showpost.php?p=316715&postcount=115). I currently don't have the time to write a full blown tutorial on it, but that should be self explanatory if you know how to script and understand the principle behind it. The reason team colors don't transfer is because the dummy biped doesn't inherit player colors when you enter its "seat", it merely keeps it's own colors.

Why not just attach a AI bot to the player model and then have it scripted to look at the gun and use the script that lets you look through bipeds viewpoint.
I think sonic team did something along those lines.

i think the model issue has something to do with the frame gun node facing the wrong way

anyway, i'm back on the project now- the models are nearly finished
it's just the 3p bit i need help with
..and does anyone know if you can have 2 melee anims for one weapon like halo 2 and 3?
