Well, Game Developers Conference (GDC) of 2009 is quickly approaching. The event begins Monday, March 23 and will run until Friday, March 27. Basically, this thread is for, at the moment, discussion and speculation of what you would like to see/hear at this years GDC. One thing I'm hoping for is some Dead Rising 2 info, or even some info on what the internal Halo team at Microsoft is working on. Speaking of which, take a look at the "Featured Speakers" on the bottom of the Keynotes (http://www.gdconf.com/conference/keynotes.html) page on the GDC website. See anything interesting?

I know this isn't E3 and this event isn't based around showing off new games but sometimes games are announced here (Gears of War 2 last year).

Anyways, discuss, speculate etc.

Gasp! Randy Smith of EA!...oh you mean that Corrinne Yu chick for Halo Team Microsoft? Yeah, I wonder what they're up to. I have no idea why Microsoft would need another Halo team, unless they plan to milk Halo, which is likely >_>

Well, Valve is on the exhibitors list (https://www.cmpevents.com/GD09/a.asp?option=H&V=1&Sortby=3&FLtr=0) so who knows what they've got to say.

Perfect, it coincides with my spring break. Now I know what I'm going to do to keep busy during that time. :)

I'm hoping to see more info on Peter Jackson's Halo game, and some info from Valve would be nice as well, though I was never really into the Half-Life series.

I hope that there will be games announced that will be worth playing. I expect to get slapped in the face.

Dead Space 2 and Bioshock 2.

I demand to hear from Redwood Shores and 2K.

I demand less sequels and remakes, and more new games (unless the remake is of Battlezone/Battlezone II).

Quoting myself for this, I know, but one thing that I hope they say something about, alongside EP3, is maybe a Portal sequel? I know I'm getting my hopes up on a whole bunch of game information/game reveals when I should really be waiting for E3 (June 2nd-June-4th btw), but I can still hope, right?
Maybe not...

EP3 should contain information relative to the portal sequel and GLADoS.

It hints many times about things going on outside as well as our puppets escape into the outside world with the Gun.

Also Ep3 should have alot to do with the Borealis considering Aperture made it.

i dunno, stupid valve and their lack of information!!

Valve has made a lot of presentations (http://valvesoftware.com/publications.html) on how they make stuff work within their games. Maybe they'll do something on Left 4 Dead, although I think they've covered all their new content within the in-game commentary.

I'd like Episode Three news, but that's just out of the question. :saddowns:

[...]Now that they've managed to license their engine to just about everyone in the gaming industry, Epic is ready to bring some exciting new features to the Unreal Engine 3 (http://kotaku.com/tag/unreal-engine-3/), which they'll be showing off at GDC next week. Features like Unreal Lightmass, which coupled with their new Swarm distributed computing framework makes adding high-quality static lighting effects 10 times faster then before. How about a new content browser and search engine, freeing developers from having to manually hunt for game assets?

Sounds interesting. Can't wait to see this stuff in action.

Oh, and another thing that I want to hear about : Star Wars Battlefront 3.

Now that the studio (forget the name at the moment) have been bought, is the game still being made? What's going on?

I'm sick of hearing about the Source engine. It's old, it's outdated, time to move on Valve! But yes, Ep. 3 news plz!

Bioshock 2 looks to be really good though. Remember SOME sequels can be good.

I spoke to a games company last week and they said it was still in production (under the new company)

We were talking about the recession and how likely their company could go under (talking about future careers in their company)

Well, the first part is good news to hear, I'm glad to know that the game is still going to be made.

As for the second part, well, that's the way life works I guess.
