.NET 3.5 hates me.

Yeah I have windows 7 beta build 7077 but i have a key that doesn't expire till 2010... anyways...

I recently upgraded from xp sp3 like a week ago and i realized that there is a new .net framework out. I go to install it but nothing happens. I download 3.5 from microsoft download site. i open up the .exe it doesn't load. So then i extract the .exe with 7zip go to the setup.exe open up it starts to setup instalation. Then the green bar fills like half and inch and it says error. then closes out. :( now it gives me no error report nothing i also ran this as administrator and still nothing.

I know a prerequesit for installing 3.5 is that you need 2.0 and 3.0 and those come with the installation of windows vista and windows 7 but when i look in add and remove programs i only se 1.1 not 2.0 or 3.0 and the standalone installers are for xp and server. so reinstalling those is not an option. Windows update doesn't catch them. so here's my dilema.

How do i get this thing installed?

What did the original error say? Also yeah you gotta be careful assuming beta software comes with things, you need to double check first really.

yeah... not very detailed is it.
I extracted the setup file because it didn't open when i double clicked on it.
then I ran the setup.exe as an administrator
then yeah... fail.

Does 3.5 appear in add and remove?

no neither does 2.0 or 3.0 but 1.1 does but if you look here it shows that they are installed even 3.5 but the 3.5 folder is empty.
