What the fuck. The game is still in the top 10 or 8 PC games online. The community is a constant 3000+ players. There's more than 13,000 who have played Halo CE 1.08, and that's the smallest community of them all.

If you can pull the email header info, that would help verify that it isn't spoofed, but it looks like you had it forwarded to you so that isn't going to be present.

Gamespy has a list up of all-time most popular games. HL1 is at #1 even though it only has about 20 people online though =/.

Also, what happened to UT3? I see it only has 200 people on, and the last time I played online a week or two ago, almost ALL the player slots in every game had bots, and only a few real people.

I think they /may/ be counting Counter-Strike 1.6 in with Half-Life. As for everything else they may even be counting the cracked versions, which probably have more players than the full ones.
