Wow... That's crazy.
I'm not fully sure I understand why the ant still moves with no brain though... How does that work?

I would imagine that the parasite takes control of the neural system and is able to move the ant to its own will. Think of them like Flood that way.

The maggot eventually migrates into the ant's head, but Plowes said he "wouldn't use the word 'control' to describe what is happening. There is no brain left in the ant, and the ant just starts wandering aimlessly. This wandering stage goes on for about two weeks."
welp

Didn't I make a topic one time with something similar to this? it was some parasite that made ants climb to high places, then die, and the fungus grew out of the ants head so it could spread its spores.

Did you really? I gotta go check that out.

And man, I'm glad this can't affect people, cause that would just be freaky as hell...

Here's me hoping that once these flies overpopulate due to lack of predators, they don't start using Humans as hosts.

Here's me hoping that once these flies overpopulate due to lack of predators, they turn texans into zombies and we can play l4d irl.

This.
And I doubt they can reach the human brain. I think there's too much material to get through. Plus, think about it. ITS TEXAS. Their like, the 2nd fattest state in the US. Those flies would die before they even got to the meat.

As soon as they start saying "they're a natural population control", I get worried.

The difference is that they're not poisonous and they attack fire ants exclusively as far as I can see.

Haha, Australia lost to cane toads. Makes me almost feel good about losing to the Vietnamese and tribes people who live in caves. I love sarcasm

Cane toads are highly toxic, prolific breeders, and very hardy. The NVA/VC had an intimate knowledge of the ground they were fighting on and had years of experience fighting numerically and technologically superior militaries. The Mujahidin which fought for the Taliban were trained and funded by the US until they decided they didn't like America very much.

Your point? :hist101:

Take a bunch of people with big boots and go a stomping. Thats your solution. And I still dont really feel good about losing to the Taliban or the NVA, but here's what I do: I only play hitory based shooters based around 1940-1946 or so. Makes me feel good about
