Seriously, the entire country is up in arms and Ahmadinejad is still lying through his teeth trying to convince the world he isn't a scumbag. Hilarious.

NEVER rig an election so you win by a landslide...seriously, some of these guys have the hugest egos ever! Win by a few hundred votes, not over 80% of it! Especially if you were going to lose.

The power actually belongs to the Iranian Mullahs, so who's president won't really matter all that much :|

this

Iranian presidential elections don't really decide government actions so much as demonstrate whether the people approve of them.

Of course, the radical government doesn't want their national popularity information floating around the world while they continue with their posturing.

That guy in the article, someone should tell him that there's nothing on his forehead that a medical mask will protect!

Any country with a dictator in power is not going to want to give that power up. This is the case in Iran, as well.
When their "president" is forced out of office, he more than likely will not go willingly, and will probably use the army to keep his power, thus becoming a dictator.

...Except the Supreme Leader is the country's commander-in-chief, not the president (who in general only has power in how the leader's policy is implemented, not policy itself).

HTH.

Just read something about Iranian militias breaking up protests with axes and hatchets. Getting pretty wild over there I guess.

I heard that story was a fake, nobody's heard any confirmations that it happened, or something.

I hope the Iranian government gets overthrown, and the Commies finally take over. They were the ones who originally tried to take the Shah out, and then got fucked over by everyone else.
