View Full Version : Halomods finaly cuts ties

=sw=warlord

Looks like Halomods have finaly had enough of a few rogue staff members.
Il quote sourceguy on this.

Well, yesterday was a hectic night. I'm sure most of you have somehow heard something about what's happened, but some of you might not have - and most of you haven't heard my side of it. So, here is a quick recap of the events that lead to this situation, for those who care about this.

Ever since i've been the admin of HaloMods, I've hated the horrible attitude of some prominent members of the site. I'm talking about GTAF, Tural, Veegie, Detox and some others. They often have no respect for other community members and approach many people in a nasty arrogant manner. They were ruining the atmosphere on the site, and inspiring other users to act similarly. My personal distaste for their behaviour and attempts to do something about this were not taken well. For a long time i've tried to make things work out, but things exploded after a series of events happened.
At some point I got wind of some staffers bitching about me behind my back on the HaloMods IRC, and I decided it was the last straw for me. I made up some false reasons to demote GTAF and Shadowkhas from the staff for this reason - as can be read in the logs Tural has posted online. (the fat guy in the picture is NOT me, ffs). Note that I in no way was planning to ban them - especially not Shadowkhas. I just believed that I couldn't work with them as a team. Anyways, I had a long chat with this about Tural and told him what I'd done and why - I wanted to keep Tural on the staff team. Alas, after a few days Tural decided otherwise, and he, GTAF, detox and some others exploded in the IRC chat. The resulting logs were published by Tural and can be found here: tural.xenon7.net/lolsg.html
Make up your own mind about these guys.

After this chat, I banned Tural and GTAF from the forums and the IRC chat. All hell broke loose. Tural, GTAF and many other people starting spamming links and nonsense on the forums. Detox had even written a software program to spam posts to all the Halomods subsections, and, after having spammed many posts, Tural and GTAF sabotaged the emblem system by giving everyone emblems. It was a load of work to clean things up - I had to stay up very late, put the site down for a while, and turn off new user registrations. In the heat of the moment, many people spamming the site were banned. It's all completely rediculous.

Anyways, things have died down, and hopefully we've seen the last of this spam. I will be assembling a new staff team shortly. JK-47 is the first new member on the staff team, and I know he will make a great moderator that treats users with respect. Hopefully the atmosphere on HaloMods will change for the better, so that we can go ahead with the plans to convert this place into a great modding community.
Looks like quite a few feathers flew.
Im personaly glad to see those clowns gone i think now their gone halomods can start to reshape it self.
Any comments?

That's great. It has almost nothing to do with Modacity. Why do people insist on posting Halomods/maps related news here? I'm very tempted to lock this, but we'll see how this thread goes for now.

Well considering the site had a relaunch not so long ago and the people who caused the mass issue when it was relaunched are now banned.
Also because many of the members where originated from halomods.
Also, its the "offtopic" forum for a reason Reaperman...

They may have originated from there, but that still doesn't really make this all that relevant. Moderation issues on another forum is not news here.

Nor does mister jacksons death got anything to do with this forum or any of the threads in this section really...

I'm very tempted to lock this, but we'll see how this thread goes for now.Well, it is the off-topic forum...though I suppose it could be moved to Halo CE General Discussion because it's a fellow Halo CE related forum. It does not have 'nothing to do with Modacity' though, because it's one of the few sites to have any Halo CE-type forum, and you should care if a Halo site has hell broken loose. The game is dying more and more, the very same that brought most of you together years ago. Can't you just show some concern for the game and the homes to its players and mappers?

yea but, that's because we actually care

BUT, same goes for stuff about halomods, I mean we couldve just as well talked about the FBI site going on a rampage (Extreme example, don't check it), and I doubt a thread made about that would get locked.

so that's whats happening at halomods...and I wanted my own emblem!

Warlord has a point really.

The thing of it all is that it's drama involving people that most of us know, whether they're on this forum or not...

but... yar.

I don't have anything to say about the actual article though so I post a picture of a green fish.

I never really posted much on Halomods, although I browsed it occasionally. I always hated how those three treated everyone. I was afraid of posting something there because I didn't want to get mauled by one of them. Glad to see they're gone.

I sorta started from HaloMods before moving to H2CE.net, then finding H2Vista. Since I moved to H2CE, I noticed that HM not only seemed to push out less content (probably resulting from newer games), but even just general posts and ideas weren't showing up. I can't say this was directly a result from that staff, but something was wrong, and maybe the new staff can bring things back together. You have to admit, a LOT of public attention to modding came from HaloMods between Halo 1/2. GBX couldn't be the only source of Modacity members. (Not google, either... heh)

That place has been going south for years. 'bout time.

That is true, however, I still find myself visiting the site once a week in hope of finding some decent modifications for the game. I do sometimes but it's basically just reverted to "first mod" threads that have stupid changes, such as a person calling their map coagulation when they simply make the ground textures on Bloodgulch a little darker and greener. And on top of that, the thread creator would make it a poll as well without only the choices of: AMAZING, Make More, and Good...forgetting the YOU SUCK option.

However, I have just checked the downloads section of PC modding and JK-47 put up a seemingly interesting map for download. I might check it out.

I'm sad I missed it too :(. Its why you don't mix politics with administration...these characters grow an e-peen over the years then get into an exploitable position to make sure that only their shit is smelt and their bidding's dealt.

Heh, remember when I started a spam fest on gbx after Nitro had got banned? I remember posting a picture in the spam threads of some hillbilly or something claiming it was Reppoboyo. Man, that was like 2004...or 05.

seems some people here really don't care about halomods and prefer not to hear about it. That's fine, just keep it out of this thread. Despite being on different sites, we're all part of the halo modding scene so its obviously relevant to many of us. I want to hear news from other parts of the modding scene, especially news like this. I wouldn't ever lock this reaper, warlord has a point.

As for the topic at hand, it saddens me to see a site go through that. It's always said, "why can't we all just get along," and those are my feelings on this. I hope without the negative influences over there they can improve the image a bit. Modacity needs to improve its image too.

Also, glad to see some cleanup going on at Halomods...I was a member back in '04, and then stopped posting when the good mods stopped coming out, and all the top crews moved to other boards or personal websites a la CMT and H2CE.

I'm quite happy Tural and Veegie are gone. GTAF was a good poster and a good mod, but him and Tural were pretty ass-like together, which exacerbated when GTAF practically moved in with Tural. Khas was a great guy and a good mod, but it's good to see his ban has been lifted.

I didn't really mind Tural and he wasn't that bad as far as I'm concern, but Veegie was a real stuck up 12 year old (well he looks 12).

@Tom

Doesn't help that these people were desperate. Doesn't help that the community was dead. It also doesn't help that he's not experienced. He's also human. He's screwed up a lot of things in their minds, but, in my opinion (which, granted, is not the most valued thing on this Earth), those things are so superficial because anything of worth has died so long ago it isn't even funny anymore.

They wanted somebody to blame for how things are going at that site, the community, and how a 5+ year old game with an obsolete SDK is dead.

It is disturbing how some people will spit venom at change that is inevitable. Halo is dead, and there is nothing they can do to change the chemical reactions in people's minds to think otherwise.

I am not saying he has done nothing wrong. All I am saying is that moving on is a much braver move than throwing rocks at a scapegoat.

This isn't my fight. I'm just expressing an opinion.
