so my neighbor had some areal bombs.... he lit one off earlier, everything was all good....

not this time...

he was using PVC pipe to launch these things from, and the 1st thing i thought when i saw was that if this thing fails to launch, that pipe is gonna turn to shrapnel and we are gonna get fucked up.

well, it happened.... it failed to launch and it was basically a giant frag grenade...

his garage got the worst of it... as you can see by the pictures... my garage is brick so it didn't get messed up too bad... a few deep gashes in the wood at the top, and some molten pvc stuck to the side...

the bricks around his shed got pushed back a good 6 inches... the solar light that was there got disintegrated.... the big window in his garage got shattered.... one of the windows in the back of his house got fucked.... everything was covered in dirt....the metal door has giant dents in it, it looked like a war zone.

he had a bunch of people in his yard all standing watching this thing, and the people in my yard..... the potential for some devastating injuries was very high... not to mention my dog was standing right at the fence like 2 feet from it when it went off.

we got extremely lucky.... only one guy got hit with shrapnel, sliced open his finger pretty good... should have got stitches but they just butterfly'd it.... in the picture with the kid, he was standing right there and as you can see all around him there are holes from the shrapnel, a few inches over and he would have gotten a neck shot.

i swear my neighbor is cursed.... after that a few more of the smaller (but no less deadly) areals failed to launch and blew on the ground... but noone got hurt from them.... and one of them 500 shot bottle rocket thingies.... the very last one flew sideways and blew up right in his face ... plus a roman candle type box tipped over and was launching them all over...

all in all a very interesting and very dangerous night....

That's why you don't use fucking PVC pipe to launch them. Did he think those things they sell at the stands to launch them were just there for show or something?

Yes fireworks are dangerous, but it's controlled danger (don't know if that's the correct term, but bear with me) unless of course you are stupid enough to do what Bacon's neighbor did.

Fireworks are dangerous if they are poorly made or the setup is messed up (this) or.... your just a moron.

Ah fireworks, such a dangerous yet lovely little thing. Sometimes we go to my cousins house to shoot them off, and they live in a col-de-sac (How the bloody 'ell do you spell that fucking word?!) so all around it there's a bunch of black marks, orange marks, and the likes.

One 4th we thought about making a big smiley face with the marks, so we did, and it's awesome. Now anytime we go there we point and we're like "There's the smiley face we made omg!" Sorry I don't have any pictures, I didn't have a camera back then :(

Edit: Oh yeah, glad you didn't get killed. Watch yourself next time you go to that awful mans house >:[

seriously....PVC Pipe. maybe if the inside was reinforced with steel!!! it would launch.

Kids, REMEMBER the only difference between a rocket and a bomb is the fact that a rocket has a hole at the bottom that isn't covered up and channel the energy in one direction, not completely shielded and have the energy build up until it's released in every fucking direction!

also, superman guy has the greatest mask of all time!

Professional fireworks technicians use Surplus Riot Shields... stops the shrapnel but still lets you see through it.

July 6th, 2009, 07:59 PM
yah they weren't exactly purchased legally so that's why he didn't have the proper launching tube...

if it was me i wouldn't have launched them at all... especially with pvc.... but oh well.

it's something ill never forget that's for sure.

Me and my gf and her family (why bring this extra luggage?) went down to houston for the 4th, I brought my 4 wheeler just for some cruising because the house we were staying in had 20 acres of woods. Well there is a burn ban down there (means drought, no water, really dry, dead grass everywhere) so the fireworks stands were not selling any aerial fireworks such as bottle rockets. Well I hop onto the 4 wheeler, about to hit the trails, when my gfs cousin (her whole family visits this place) comes up and randomly starts talking to me. I humor the 11 year old and have some small talk, until he finally runs off to play some kick ball. Well I put the stick into nuetral, fire her up and go into high and drive off. Well I have to cross this expanse of dry grass to get to the trails, well 5 seconds in I hear fucking loud bangs one after the other that scare the shit out of me and made me swerve almost into a pecan tree that sits beside the house in this field. Well I come to a stop and turn around to see the remains of some airplane fireworks, which basically spin around into the air send out alot of fire, and the damn kids had tied it to the back of my four wheeler! It takes me but a second to realize what this meant and looked up and saw about 8 small fires in the grass starting and spreading fast, especially with the mildly strong wind going. I stumble (the ground is very uneven udner the grass) to the hose when I realize we have no water pressure out here. Thoroughly freaked out and pissed, I grab the bucket they use to collect rain water start scooping up dirt and throwing it on these fires. By now they've spread pretty far and the commotion has attracted half the family, who are grabbing blankets and other things to try and put out these fires before they get way out of hand. We had gotten about 5 of the fires out, when 2 of the other 3 still burning fires finally connected and made a long strip that we could not hope to put out. In the end we resorted to throwing huge piles or dirt around the house to keep the fire from spreading towards us until the fire department arrived and put out the fire. The kids didn't get in trouble, my four wheeler has the plastic on the back partly melted and its the shiny blue coat back there is now a scorched black. I fucking hate kids.

You don't sleep on the 4th of july in Alaska. When we blow up fireworks it's at 12, which is like dusk since we only gets 4 hours of darkness, but doesn't make sence because technically it's july 5th. Then my damn neighbors blow up fireworks in the backyard till 6 in the morning and I'm laying in bed with blood shot eyes.

I hate people who complain about fireworks being set off on the 4th and that it keeps them awake, even if it is early in the morning or late at night. Go buy some earplugs you fucking whiners, it's not that hard.

But even then, you should still expect them to be set off on the 3rd and 5th. People get excited and set them off early, and some people buy so many and want to set them all off so they might even go into the next day with it.

PopeAK49
July 6th, 2009, 11:45 PM
Oh I got a list of complaints I could type in right now if you want me too for these certain neighbors. If you had the same neighbors as me you would go nuts. Oh and earplugs don't work. Got any other ideas. I bet you woke someone up on the 4th with your fireworks going off and they bitched about it. Is that why your mad right now?

1)Yes, earplugs do work. You're not putting them in right.
2)No, no one complained. The only problem we ever have on the Fourth of July is one of our neighbors that calls the cops on us for using illegal fireworks. Thankfully, they were on vacation somewhere for this one.

Argument stops here.

Nobody celebrates the 4th down here, only time fireworks go off is Guy Fawkes. Even then there's only shitty little ones avaliable to the public (no black market).

Only interesting story's event's I've had with fireworks are the odd roman candle fight. The best one was last years Canada Day airsoft game, a guy brought like 230 roman candles that he needed to get rid of, so at the end of our night game we had a huge roman candle fight in our airsoft gear.

It was pretty fucking ridiculous.
