At the moment I have a D-Link (DI-604). I have tryed to plug the internet straight from the modem to the computer and it seems to be a lot faster.

A friend has just given me a Linksys Wireless - G (WRT54GS). I don't know if this router is old or not, so which router would be faster? I am not using the wireless connections, they are all wired.

You could first hookup the Linksys one to see if it is "faster"

Okay cheers. I did a quick speed test with speedtest.net and this is what it gave me:

DLINK Router = Download speed: 2.10 MB/s

NO ROUTER = Download speed: 2.08 MB/s

LINKSYS ROUTER = Download speed: 2.07 MB/s

Well, aparently my internet speed is 10MB. And I am getting around 2MB... the rest of the area around me are all receiving around 8MB acording to speedtest.net.. so I think I will be having a good word with the ISP.

Then I will look into that router.
