But seriously, after I shut down my computer to let it update, the computer says:

Configuring Updates: Stage 3 of 3 - 0% complete.
Do not turn off your computer.

Then after this, it says:

Shutting down...

So, it should work right?

Boot in safe mode and do a system restore. Then shut it down again and let it retry downloading the updates.

It's not letting you boot into safemode?
Try holding down the power button to do a hard shut down and it should bring you to a screen to start in safe mode when you turn it back on.

Safe boot only got to the Windows Icon before unexpectily restarting on its own. It's back to updating and restarting over and over again.
