I need some help:ohdear:

One of my hdd's is toast :realsmug:umm and I would really like to get all my music, movies, pictures, ect off it if its possible. I acquired a few different programs and have retrieved a few files, but the one program that is supposed to be super fantastic is not working right(or im not doing it right). I guess I should rephrase that, at the current rate it is scan and searching for files, itll be done is 1247 hours. :ohdear: that program is called ARAX disk doctor.

PLEASE someone help with advice.
e: I at least think its toast. My computer recognizes it, but when i open the hdd under my computer it freezes (95% of the time). The other 5% i can see the folders but not files, but the computer says that out of 500gb, only 49 are left.:raise:

I have Vista Ultimate 64bit and not sure on the file system. I know this is probably not good for it and a little unorthodox, but I froze it over night and I was able to open and transfer everything.

Actually, putting HDD in freezers is a common place event upon HDD crashing. Yeah, the freezer really helps with Hard drives. Glad to hear that your files got saved. Mine didn't when mine crashed =(

Recover My Files (http://www.recovermyfiles.com/)
Used it to recover nearly 700 pictures from a reformated Hard drive.

It should work for you I guess.

GetDataBack / Recover My Files are my suggestions.

Spinrite might help you...but it's 90$.

If the drive really is toast -- sometimes it will take up to 2 weeks to cure it (Assuming the drive won't die on the operating table).

After that you're stuck trying to negotiate with Drive Savers... but that will be high 3, low 4-digits (not including cents).

Oh... or you could backup your data next time and just condemn the drive on problems and copy the data off...
