View Full Version : iPod is being retarded

My iPod 1st Generation Nano has been through hell. It's been washed twice throughout the years, dropped, ran over, and other stuff, and yet seems to work fine, until now. When the iPod isn't plugged into my computer, it shows the charging symbol. And when I turn it off it goes to the screen that says "charged", which is ironically killing the battery. It hasn't happened since I last restored it to the newest firmware, so it can't be hardware, can it? A restart doesn't help it, nor does a restore.

Is there any way to fix this malfunction?

I'm not an Apple guy at all. But holy hell dude. D:

Give it a proper funeral and buy a Zune. : D

JK, anyway, if I had to take a guess, I would say (google searches) that it could be the battery being fried, or it could just be it dying/software not working right anymore. Crazy though. Good luck with this.

F that, I got this bitch for free. Since it's been in my hands, I haven't done anything bad to it.

I tried google, but as it usually does for me, it failed.

Is it one of these (http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1353#scrollwheel)?

Man, even I started with an iPod (Click Wheel) (http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1353#clickwheel), and then upgraded to an iPod 5th Generation (http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1353#ipodfifth).

Oh, man... I was once you. Until June, anyway.

From what I can tell, the parts that deal with the usb/charger are broked. You can either try and fix that yourself (googlan), or put it to rest and make it a flash drive (in disk mode, of course).

Force re-boot it... see if that fixes it.

You'll have to enroll it in special ed classes, I'm afraid. Sorry for your lots.

I believe that is when you hold down the center button and the top most part of the click wheel. IIRC, that resets it.

That's what I meant by resetting it. Doesn't help a bit :\
