How do I copy a 360-compatible mp4 video file to my 360's 120GB hard drive to play it back? Copying it to a USB memory stick and then plugging it into the 360 yielded no results...

You can't transfer material to your Xbox's hard drive long term, unless downloaded from their servers.

That is, last I checked.

It may be the same as music. Burn it to a CD or DVD. The best way is to stream it off a PC.

Im thinking you can using a docking station.
I noticed a while back when looking through my drive i found all the videos i downloaded off live in a folder.

This worked, after download a stupid little 4.1MB patch off XBL... But I'd still much rather be able to dump the file onto my 360's HDD and watch from there.

I'd watch it on my original Xbox since it's modded to hell with a 120GB HDD, clear case, Xecuter 3 CE, two homebrew dashboards, Xbox Media Center, etc, etc, but it hates mp4 files for some reason...

semi-related: Does anyone know if there's a way to make my USB drive seen by my 360?

Format the drive to FAT file system otherwise the xbox wont notice its there.

My problem with network related stuff is that I'm using a network bridge for my 360. LAN Ethernet comes into PC's first 10/100/1000 Ethernet port, LAN Ethernet exits PC's second 10/100/1000 Ethernet port and enters Xbox 360. Connections are bridged in the adapters management center, so it's a bitch to configure any kind of streaming shit.
