So I just got an EVGA 9800GTX to replace my 8800GT (fan died) and I see reviews that say it requires TWO 6-pin power cables, I see only one place to plug one in?

if there's only one, then plug it in and see if it works.

also, google is your friend.

Doesn't the 9800GTX+ have only one 6-pin because it's a refresh that's more efficient on power?

Do I use the adapter it came with and plug in the HDD power cables my PSU has a ton of?

Point being I have a cable on my PSU that has 6 pins but I only have 1, but there's also only one place for a 6 pin I can see on the card yet they say it needs two? That's my confusion...The manual is fucking terrible.

This is the card I got. (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130339&cm_re=9800GTX%2b-_-14-130-339-_-Product)

do you know how to read?

If it only has one port for pcie power, then it only needs one I presume.

Clearly it works with only one. There's only one port, therefore, they lied to you in the manual just to fuck with your head. That's eVGA for you.

My 4850 was advertised as needing two on the site but when I get it there is only one place for a 6pin...

Holy shit. I'd like to take a moment of silence for that 8800...

Give it a proper burial.

Or, give it to me, and I'll put a custom fan onto it :3
Then i'll give it to my brother, so he can quit using the xbox and move onto pc games FOREVER

I'm going to keep it and use it for a rainy day.

As for the card I guess it does only need 1 cable, despite many reviews complaining of it needing two....meh. If it explodes in the next 30 days I can just return it.

Have you gave the card a look over? if there is only one place for a 6pin connector then the obvious answer here is?!
