I finally got the drive to appear on an ICH8 (or is it 7?) chipset. It's an old (3.5 yrs) Dell 8400 that I used. After I put the computer in "Combination" mode because AHCI wouldn't identify the drive in Windows or iPrep, it FINALLY showed up when I ran iPrep (but now I have to reinstall Windows because it won't boot with the change).
My drive is a Samsung and its current firmware is ms28. I followed the instructions this dude here made (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iTW-eE2zwTw). Unfortunately, when I get to the point where I have to read my firmware, I type y, turn off my 360, and turn it back on, but the status stays at 0x51. When I turn off the drive, the status goes to 0xD1, so I know it is still alive, and when I turn it on the numbers flicker instantly for like 1/4 of a second to random things like 0x80 before permanently settling on 0x51. If you watch the video, it should immediately read the firmware at this point.
I have no idea what is going wrong. It would be great if I could try this on my main PC, but I don't know how to get any apps or iPrep to identify it. I have a Gigabyte EP45-UD3P motherboard, so if anyone knows how to get it working with the Samsung drive, please help.
Massive flood of rep for help. :v:
EDIT: I got my main computer to identify it by connecting it to the Gigabyte controller ports on my motherboard....BUT I get 0x51 when I attempt to read MTK Device Intro. Even after resetting the drive, it just sits there. DOSFLASH 1.8 identifies it in Windows, but when I attempt to do the MTK stuff, the same thing as iPrep happens...
PS THIS IS URGENT PLEASE HELP
