The first level is kinda scary.

Best game since Numero Uno, and even bests it in terms of gameplay. All it needs is more length to it...make it extend all the way until the Chief gets back. Play those live action shorts, having to retrieve the package, etc.

I'm really sick of almost every Halo game (made by Bungie) has a Warthog run type of deal in the last level.

Yeah, parts of that run felt like they were meant for the Master Chief and his shields, not an ODST. But generally I did not mind the run. And that run was only for what, the first half of the level? The second half felt like ODST through in through.

Did ODST seem insanly hard even on easy mode?
It felt like everything was faster.

I played mine on Heroic but it seemed a lot harder then it should have been.
