Text problem

I've never had this happen before so I don't know what to do. Some text shows up as random letters with accents instead of the text it should be, but I can still copy and paste it and it will be the text that it should be. Does this in firefox and IE.
I don't know if I'm missing a font or what, but help on the issue would be appreciated.

Do your character keys do that?

Exmaple:
"/" shows up as "é"?

Press Ctrl+Shift until it's back to normal, it cycles between three different language modes or something.
