Image Resizer (http://www.ncode.nl/vbulletinplugins/1/file/file) (version: 1.0.1)
This plugin enables you to automatically resize every user-posted image which is larger than given dimensions. Administrators are able to set the maximum dimensions, and users can choose how enlarged images must be displayed.
The options are:
- No resizing
- Enlargement in the same document
- Enlargement in the same window (replacing the forum thread)
- Enlargement in a new window
It also adds an information bar (which is not displayed when the image is too small) giving information about the original dimensions and filesize.

http://www.ncode.nl/contentfiles/vbulletinplugins/image2/1.gif
http://www.ncode.nl/contentfiles/vbulletinplugins/image3/1.gif
Less work for moderators since all images are AUTOMATICALLY resized with options to enlarge if the user wishes to view the whole thing. Took me about 30 seconds to download, install, and configure on my website (http://www.lancersedge.com/forums/showthread.php?p=520#post520) (links to a page with 100+ MB's of resized images). No need for an additional BBCode tag that makes copy/pasting to other vB based sites harder.

You have to enter [img] anyway, putting in [shot] isn't that much effort.

And the noobs that use the WYSIWYG editor? The ones that have no idea, or always forget to use shot tags? This makes it impossible for users to fail, and it makes less work for moderators.
The installation instructions by the way, so you see how easy it is:
Upload "ncode_imageresizer.js" to the clientscript directory in your vBulletin installation.
Import "product-ncode_imageresizer.xml" in your vBulletin forum. Enter your AdminCP and go to Plugins & Products -> Manage Products. Click on [Add/Import Product] and refer to the XML file. The installation script will detect which database modifications have to be performed and will display the query that is going to perform these modifications. If something fails, execute that query yourself.

Or you could do it my way for the sake of compatibility between websites. I frequent 4 or 5 sites that all make use of automatic image resizing using the [img] tag instead of an unnecessary additional tag.

so why not just add shot tags to the message entry area? if you guys arnt going to put the automatic image reziser in, then at least put in a button for shot tags
and before anyone calls me lazy, we have a button for img, so why not for shot?

You guys obviously have not had to copy/paste a post containing multiple images from here to another website, or vice-versa. It is a majorly huge pain in the ass to manually change every images from to , especially if there's anything over 10 images.
Shot tags are simply inferior, I don't know of any decently good vBulletin site using them. Why would you add an extra BBCode when you could simply integrate everything so you don't have to worry about it? Talk about user-unfriendly, a BBCode with an extra character in it means THAT much longer typing and incompatibility between websites.

1. Open Notepad
2. Paste in text
3. Ctrl + H
4. Replace img with shot
5. Cut/paste into thread
Look at my photography thread, initially the first post was individual [thumb] images. I used to post my photos on multiple sites too. It doesn't take the long to change img to shot.

That's what I've been doing (but with Dreamweaver instead of Notepad), but internet browsing should require a SINGLE program. Learn to follow the standards guys, and make it easier for your USERS to use the website.
Also, adding this would be easier than adding a button for shot tags to the WYSIWYG editor anyways.

so in other words, "no, we wont do what makes sense and add a button for shot tags to the message box"
because not everybody knows what they are. i didnt know what they were for a while when i first came here.
the administration added 3 different buttons for youtube videos. why is it so difficult to add a button for shot tags?

Plus, at least on the forums I know of that use it, it loads the image at its full, screen-stretching size, and only resizes it when it's done loading. Shot tags load the image already resized.

You guys are arguing with freelancer even though he is simply providing a more efficient way of posting images? It would save the moderators a lot of time and users would be able to focus on the image and not about posting "Hey there guy l2use shot tags" The whole jcap is lazy thing is funny and all, but it is simply uploading a script. Though I do understand where people are coming from when they say its only typing, but seriously. All the guy was doing was providing something that the forum could only benefit from. That's my two cents.
g'night.

I do actually support the resize script tbh. Just as long as it links directly to the image and it's not a stupid gay javascript POS.

If what Cagerrin is saying is true, I'd prefer a modification to the vBcode parser that gets an image's size, and if the image is larger than a limit defined in the ACP, it'll add a width parameter to the HTML img tag to size it down.
[shot] is currently just an <img> with a fixed width of 800px, which will display an image at that width while keeping its aspect ratio.

After reviewing how this works on Freelancer's site, I am not in favor of installing it.
Some thoughts:
1) Images load huge and then suddenly shrink when they are done loading. This jumpiness is distracting and awkward.
2) Explicit definition of shot tag can be useful in several situations.

Yah like adding this code to the tag.
<a href="javascript:void(0)" onClick="window.open('{URL}', 'MyPopUp', 'width=500,height=500,resize=1,toolbar=0,scrollbar s=1,screenX=200,screenY=200,left=200,top=200')"><img src="{URL}" style="max-width: 300px; max-height: 200px;" border=2> </a>

I would imagine it wouldn't be very hard to edit the script to make it look however you want.
Images load huge and then suddenly shrink when they are done loading. This jumpiness is distracting and awkward.
This is really the only legitimate point that's been made against using the script.
