View Full Version : Halo map errors?

Wow, thanks for putting up with my endless spam of questions.

Anyway, when I make a map and compile it and all, it works fine on my computer. Problem is, when I copy the .map file over to my brother's computer, it'll crash halo.

Example: I have a map named halo123.map. I put halo123.map on my USB drive and transfer it over to my brother's maps folder. He tries to load halo, the halo screen shows up for a minute - then it crashes saying "Loading exception data...".

Might anyone know the cause of this?

Thanks,
-Arightwizard

PS: I'd tell you extra information but I don't nearly know the cause, so I don't know what information to provide.

Make sure you are not starting the game as CTF when there are no flags.

No, I mean -

When I put the map in his maps folder, then when he tries to load HALO (not the map, just the general startup of halo CE), halo will show for a minute then crash. Not when he tries to load the map.

And it wont crash if this map is not in maps folder?

Maniac, exactly. I've tested this over and over, cut and paste in and out of the map folder - it works when it's out of the maps folder, but not while it's in.

That should also give an exemption on his pc though.

You said you moved the .map rather than compressed to zip or rar then moved?
Maybe your file was damaged in the transfer? did you try uploading it and downloading to your brothers pc?

annihilation, maybe - but it works for me all the time. I'll check.
Maniac, I'll also try that.

Thanks,

If that doesn't work then read this.
It might help.

Did he rename the map? is the map using Open Sauce?

Dwood, no and no.

**EDIT**: Maniac, you were right. It was damaged during the transfer (that surprisingly happens a lot to me), I just transferred it again and it worked.
