You used a snowblower for that short driveway? Shame on you.
It's about twice as wide as it is long, and you're missing about 1/4 of the drive length in that picture. Also, notice how the snow is to my knee? That displays that the snow is about 2 feet deep, and it was that deep all across the driveway and about 3 feet by the road.

Same on you for even suggesting that you could shovel that!

We get wet slushy snow here and when that shit is wet, you can't blow it away. When it freezes to the pavement, you can't blow it away. Scrapin' is the only way to go.

I only need to scrape/shovel snow once a year; though when the wet slushy snow freezes the driveway's nearly impossible to get out of without a 4x4. Last year I had my Astro van (rear wheel drive) nose down the driveway (at least 20-30 degree incline) and there was no way I was gettin' it out without a tow.

This year, F-350 turbo diesel 4x4 instead of Astro van. Come on winter, bring it!

7" and 42's are ridicules for snow, all you need is the plow frame package and some decent tires. Hopefully we'll eventually have a 4-5" lift (which ever is smallest but allows us the use of 37's) with 37" tires. No real need for a plow package though with that, since you can just go through everything...

How wide are the 37" tires, out of curiosity? Wide tires are good for mud but if you need to stay on the pavement, skinny tires with a good radius are great for snow. A friend told me the Michelins on my truck look like pizza cutters. Slice right through that thar snow!

We don't have them yet, we've got a list of stuff that we're going to be adding to the Jeep and the lift kit and 37" tires are fairly far down it... Next thing we get will probably be an XHD front bumper (http://www.quadratec.com/showcases/rugged_ridge/modular_bumper/jk.php) (Winch Mount, Black Hoop, End Caps), we already have a Warn 9.5ti winch to go into it. Then we're probably going to add a Rugged Ridge Front Skid Plate (http://www.quadratec.com/products/12052_1000_07.htm), and then a Snorkel but we're not sure which brand yet.

If you look at the picture of the Jeep on the XHD bumper configuration page, that's approximately the lift we're going for, possibly slightly lower. You can even throw on the White color and you'll basically see exactly what our Jeep will look like (we have a 4-door though).

Way North of Calgary isn't Calgary, it's all about the location of Calgary in relation to the Rockies. We get warm air and cold air mixing and it causes freaky weather that you won't see anywhere else in the world, basically due to Chinook winds and all that. We get massive dumps of snow randomly, and gigantic dumps during the winter/December season.

4-5in load in Chicago so far which is disappointing, especially since the rain from Tuesday froze in the awful 0°F weather for a nice layer of ice beneath the snow.

More importantly, this is far short of the whopping two feet needed for a snow-day. Only once in my five years in high school did they close down for a snow day. Reason? Six-foot-deep snow drifts on the sidewalks. Worst blizzard I've ever seen in town here. If the snow is three feet deep all around? Plow them thar sidewalks and roads; those kids are going to school anyways!

We had a dusting of snow the other day, and now the weather's warming up. We've got rain/snow mix forecasted. All the negatives of rain, but now FUCKING COLD rain. I love powder snow, but fucking wet slushy rainy snow pisses me off. Talk about ruining a good thing.
