Fans of the WMP11 mini player rejoice:

It's not as seamless as WMP11, but just close WMP once you see the toolbar up then hit the play button and it should keep playing your playlist without having two things on the taskbar. WMP still pops up when you open a new song from explorer, though. Anyone got a fix?

E: I should add you can't actually close WMP until you disable the toolbar. Like I said, it's a band-aid since it's just the WMP11 dll.

Dang, I was gonna post that Con. Yeah, its a bit wonky, but it works if you really want your WMP 11 toolbar back. It also looks weird if your using large icons, but it fits perfectly if you have small icons.

Since you have a wide resolution you might as well fill up more of that taskbar with quick launch.
I like the Dock slightly better, just a personal preference opposed to using quick launch which I only use for quick directory navigation. Added it gives me something to put on the left hand side of the screen.

<3 Gmod. I made this with some screenshots I took using the Stargate stuff for Gmod. Damn my desktop is sexy.

E: And before you say anything about the dock, its separated into categories with the shortcuts inside. Therefore it is better than quicklaunch which only holds individual shortcuts, otherwise it would be very crowded. I only keep a few things on the quicklaunch that don't fit into any of my categories, or I want really quick access.
