Patriots baby!!
Could some one fill me in on the whole wildcard thing? Are Colts and Saints through because they were top of their team with a big gap, while Patriots and Jets were close so both went through from AFC East OR is it because Colts and Saints went further in last years SB?

I know it's a helluva long shot, but I'm banking on the Eagles. We've had some problems this season, but god damn, when we get jumpin', good things happen. I'm counting on our loss to the Cowboys to fuel us in the rematch this Saturday.

Colts and saints are in because they won their division and they have the gap because they have the most wins in the playoff picture. Since the saints and Colts have the number one seat they have home field advantage for the playoffs and first round bye. 1st and second seats have 1st round bye: NFC: 1.Saints(13-3) 2.Vikings(12-4) AFC: 1.Colts(14-2) 2.Chargers(13-3). Those teams have the first round bye while seats 3 and 4 deal with the wild card teams which are seats 5 and 6. Seat 3 goes against seat 6, and Seat 4 goes against Seat 5. Patriots are in because they won their division, and the Jets are in because they have the most wins against and power against the other teams either did not have enough wins or tied them. You can have 3 teams from 1 division in the playoffs. All divisional winners have home field advantage against wild card teams but seats 1 and 2 have home field advantage over seats 3 and 4.

The Greatest Show on Turf is gonna roll all over y'all.... Oh wait that was back in the day. :(
Anyway, here's my predictions for this round:
Cardinals over Packers- I've watched Warner for many years now, and when this dude is on fire, watch out (See near comeback the Rams had against the Saints in the Wildcard back in 2000).
Patriots over Ravens- Not a Patriots fan but never count Tom Brady out. Although it'll be really interesting to see how they play without Welker. I think they'll do better than expected, really liked what I saw from their backup receiver (don't have the name on the top of my head).
Cowboys over Eagles- Lived in Texas so I'm really pumped for this game. This is a huge game for not only Tony Romo but Wayne Phillips as well. McNabb and Andy Reid are unbeaten in opening playoff rounds so they know how to win in the playoffs. The pressure is on the Cowboys to finally win a frecking playoff game, it'll definitely be a good game but I got the Cowboys winning it. Now waiting for Tony Romo to do an ol' "get the monkey off my back" if they win. :P
Bengals over Jets- Don't get too excited about last week's game Jet fans, the Bengals played it like an exhibition and really didn't seem too into it. With the Bengals playing at home this time, I like their chances of winning it.

As a jets fan I'm excited as hell for this game. We have the number 1 defense and rushing offense. I'm going to see what the Jets can do when in a situation of a playoff game. Cincinnati is also having similar weather from last week. Home field advantage is something the Bengals should be happy for in this game. I have 100 percent confidence for the New York Jets winning this game. Also, if Carson Palmer can only play a "exhibition" with a status of 1-11 attempts for 0 yards, then he should be worried.

Nope, I'm a bears fan, but the packers look solid this year. Packers FTW.

Packers are definitely a good team, I wouldn't be surprised to see them win. Right now I just have that gut feeling that the Cardinals are going to pull this one out. Although they do have some question marks regarding their injuries so it'll be interesting to see what happens tomorrow.
As far as the Jets go, good game so far. The three nullified FGs was hilarious. Although it doesn't look like that's gonna matter since the Jets are on their way to putting more points on the board as I type this.
Anyone actually put money on any games this weekend? I put $40 for the Cowboys so hopefully they come out on top...

Peyton's got some years left definitely. But my point is that the sport is changing and in 10 years your not going to see people who run over a 5 second 40 yard dash times playing QB.

Honestyl he had nothing to do with the loss. His O-Line played horribly, and everyone one else continuously fumbling didn't help either. Yes Favre threw two interceptions, but he never would of thrown them if he wasn't rushed to get the pass off and if other people had been playing well. Anyone whos watched Favre throughout his career knows that when hes desperate he will force throws, so I would really say that its not his fault.
I hope he doesn't come back though. The man needs to know when to stop.

The form of play is somewhat more sophisticated. There are all kinds of different offenses, defenses, coverages, blitzes, etc. From my knowledge of basketball and hockey most of the continuous sports rely on only a handful of these, and while styles are very different, it usually ends up being the same game no matter how you play it. With American football you have more options, as you have alot more time to prepare for each play.

the games not based purely on athleticism, its more about strategy and playcalling then having big niggers who can dunk

I'm so glad the jets made it to the championship with a rookie headcoach and quarterback. It shows that this is the begining of the jets era. I'm happy that the saints made it to their first superbowl. Imagine what it would have been like if the saints and colts went undefeated. It's really upsetting to see a 40 year old quarterback like brett favre have one of his best seasons ever, and being so close to a superbowl and then losing because of silly turnovers that could have been avoided.
Also if a 40 year old quarterback can come back after getting hit 20 times, he deserves to be respected and admired.

like we watched 2 different things tbh
like as far as i can work out each team basically has 2 teams, 1 offense one defense and most of the guys in the front row are over-weight or obese and it's just glorified sumo wrestling on the front line :S
oh and i know baseballs worse, but cricket gets labelled as boring and slow by americans like wtf!
personally i see more athleticism, faster on your feet thinking and better shows of brilliance in Rugby league :S

Is anyone actually gonna watch the Pro Bowl? Quite honestly, that is probably the most boring game of them all... When I read that the NFL made the Pro Bowlers on the Superbowl teams attend (not to play but just be there...), I seriously laughed out loud. I mean really, who cares about this game... Liked it better when it was in Hawaii cause at least it made the Pro Bowl seem worth going to.
