I recently bought an XFX HD5850 on newegg and plugged the card into my computer, and at bootup I get no video, I'm thinking its DOA but I was wondering if there is anything else I should try, keep in mind, when I put my old video card in it works fine.

Make sure it's seated in the slot correctly and that the power plug is also seated correctly. Hell, try a different power plug too.

Not two different power supplies, two different connectors.

Not if you changed the whole PSU...always remember to only test one variable at a time. Some PSUs require you to spread out the load...you may have had all of your computer's load on one of the 12V rails (assuming you have more than one), and needed to connect it to another one.

the pcie ports are running from different wires (not off of eachother), and I have two adaptors and two molex power wires (that have 3 molex power ports) should I try the adaptors and use both of those?
