More reason to hate MW2

I was playing with a group of friends tonight on MW:2 and we got placed into a game of Headquarters against people modding, it was a fun set of mods and we ended up winning the game, and left the lobby afterwords....or so we thought.

Every game we went into after had the same effects and everyone who played with us had the same thing, it was like a virus traveling from player to player. While my friends are complete idiots and thought the worst I found out a simple way to resolve the issue, clear your cache (memory setting where you clear local data, just have to re-download game updates.)

Now this is kind of ridiculous, if people can make game changing modifications that migrate from player to player in lobbies then this game will shortly become complete and total chaos. I have no idea how this is even possible, except of course if the game makes updates to your map files and game databases based on a server copy that some user can change which then distributes the update (hack) to all other players. Presumably the server would have to automatically distribute the new files based on their difference to original files under the assumption that it believes it is a needed update to the files, however I have no idea how the netcode works in this game nor have any logical reason to believe such a stupid system would be put in place; however it does make sense in this instance but I'm open to the possibility there is some other less complicated reason for why this happened.

Cue the flames against Activision, IW, etc.

I only play Hardcore. When it takes your entire clip to kill one person, it gets a little ridiculous. Also, HQ pro, even if your team is bad, you yourself can influence the game. I've carried games before. Its not that difficult.

I do hate how if I don't have Stopping Power on I can't kill anyone without emptying my clip; especially with snipers. One shot from my FMJ Intervention in your stomach should end your life, not let you continue to run at me with an AA-12.

Migrated to talking about classes. Had the game for about a week now and sitting at level 50. Been using a variety of guns to get xp, but I'm really liking UMP w/ red dot, dual rangers sidearm, stun nades, claymore, perks: marathon, stopping power, ninja.

As for gametypes my buddies usually spam mosh pit so we end up getting a variety of GTs anyway.

Eh, I was playing with some friends just yesterday on HC S&D and we ran into at least one lobby full of modded 10th prestiges using gold deagles.

The patch-mp.ff file is what contains most mods, iirc, c++ code is within the file and can be used to do virtually anything.
The file is signed on a retail console, but on a JTAG you can get a modified version of the xex executable that disables the signature.

Oh, and mw2 is awful. Heres why: The gameplay is entirely based on furthering yourself, and ignoring (often times competing with) your team. when someone gets a care package, everyone runs for it on the off chance that somehow their ally who called it will die and not be able to capture it first. Assists get you either 10 or 20 points (I dont remember, I got bc2 and never looked back at mw2 so its been a while), which is a fraction of the points you get for the actual kill. The player finds himself shouting "GOD DAMN TEAMMATE" as often as he curses about the enemy. Heres an example of good gameplay:

TF2: The medic heals the heavy so he wont get eaten alive by the enemy. Then a sniper kills the medic so that his allies can get rid of the heavy. Demomen plant stickybombs around their ally engineer's sentry to quickly help get rid of any spy who might approach with a sapper. Engineer builds teleporters to help his allies get to important points more quickly.

and now, an example of bad gameplay:

You are a pyro (the good kind, not the backburner kind), and you see someone run by on fire. You puff them out. They love you.

You are a Heavy. Your medic is being injured. You toss him a sandvich. He survives, and by extension, so do you.

You are a spy. An enemy engineer emplacement is keeping your team from capturing the flag. You sap the sentry, and your allies are able to push through.


in MW2:

You are running around searching for people to shoot. You see an ally get shot. You head over there because that means there might still be an enemy for you to shoot there.

You are sniping. You see an enemy who is about to be knifed by an ally. You shoot the enemy anyways.

You are using akimbo rangers. You are just a bad person

What makes me more angry is the party chat system disabled for nearly all game types. I can understand Search and Destroy and such but not every single god damn play list almost.

Also it's better to work with your friends mostly and not other players you find randomly...

But the most noobiest secondary gun I ever seen is Glocks akimbo. One time I managed to kill a kid with that and FMJ on it. And I had scavenger enabled and this was on Estate and I was in the house, got a choppa gunner.

I just had the most epic streak. HCHQ on Underpass. HQ was in the center long building. Im in the corner capping the HQ, claymore kill at door (1), I move to window, pick off 3 guys running across bridge. (4) 3 more guys go through other door (7). By that time I had capped the HQ and ran down the stairs to the forklift shed. I use my Percision Airstrike, 3 kills (10). I use my Harrier, 4 kills (14) I use my predator and get the entire team on respawn, 6 ppl (20). To top it all off, my harrier got 4 more kills (24). Then Im down the stairs, running to the HQ to stop the uncap, and 2 guys appear behind me, I quick turn drop a claymore and pow, both dead (26). i got a 26 kill streak in about 30 seconds.

I seriously have no clue why so many other people hail this as one of the greatest games around. If you peel back the many layers of fatty polish on this game, all you have is a limp, tried-and-trite gameplay formula the Call of Duty franchise had sucked dry years ago. "Shoot, duck, wait for all the blood to disappear off your screen, shoot some more, blow up an objective in an elaborate manner" . If you've played one level, you've virtually played them all. I'm done here. The multiplayer is even worse. It consists solely of fighting the enemy team in an unorganized ramble of spawning right in the enemy's face, killstreak orgies that ultimately take the fun away from anyone who DIDN'T launch a nuclear missile that ends the whole game, and guns that are all so generic that they all instantly kill you at roughly the same pace: instantaneous . Although still obviously better then the object of comparison, the Call of Duty games are basically the video game equivalent of the Twilight Books. It's no contradiction at all, you don't require friends to play as a team... Try being social and actually interacting with people you don't necessarily know, BC2 has a more mature player base than MW2 so it's not hard to get a squad going with competent players. Even if you get someone that doesn't really know their class (most commonly a Recon playing like a "sniper") you can usually let them know nicely and they'll actually take your advice and start helping the squad.

Modern Warfare 2 keeps me interested for hours on end. I think it's a good game.

New map pack has double-exp for a week I guess. I got alot of exp for doing S&D, got a chopper gunner, made people e-rage, the good stuff. I went up from a 60 to 63 after 5 games of S&D and Headquarters Pro, yes if you check mw2's files for the pc, they have a awful lot of unused sounds and are starting to use it now for the 360 I guess.

Yo, Bungie's remakes were....remakes, not complete ports of two maps. And on top of that, they were good remakes. And I say fuck right off to Crash and Overgrown being new maps to MW2, what the fuck is the point? New weapons on MW2 - the skill required to have proper fun on said maps. They were already in MW1, at least take the effort to remake them into something better looking. Something like this should only be 1000 MS points.

i have. all of my classes, including my anti knife class (which happens to be a knife class with marathon and lightweight, lol) have either the fal or the tar21 on them.

and i already mentioned before that i dont have a modded controller or rapid fire anything. im just that awesome with the fal. single shot for life.
E: in an enormous stroke of irony i have actually grown to like the noob tube on my tar. i actually found a not so noob way to use it. when i hit somebody and they drop below a wall or something, i just drop a grenade over the wall and it usually kills them. this works rather well since my equipment is always c4, which you cant throw very far.
